How Many 10-Inch Squares Does it Take to Make a Full Size Quilt? To make a 85.5″ x 104.5″ quilt, you will need 99 ten-inch squares.
With eight ways you can cut up 10″ squares to make a quilt, it's one of the most versatile pre cuts for projects. While yardage and such is suitable, ten inch squares are a dandy size piece for a quick quilt. Slice them into strips, smaller squares or triangles to make all kinds of quilt designs.

Size of a Lap Quilt
A “typical” lap quilt is 36 inches by 48 inches. But this can be adjusted to meet your specific needs. Remember, this is just a guide. When you are doing the sewing, you can make it whatever size you want.
For example, if you were to sew all the blocks together to create a patchwork quilt top with the 42-10″ squares from one layer cake, you would make seven rows of 6 squares each. The size of that quilt top would be 57″ x66 ½” which makes a great throw size quilt.
