If you don't pass their SAT and GPA requirements, they'll likely reject you without much consideration. To be safe, you should aim for the 75th percentile, with a 1570 SAT and a 4.17 GPA or higher to be above average.
Aim high. Even though there are no official MIT GPA requirements, you should aim for a 4.17 weighted GPA. If you're already a junior or senior figuring out how to get into MIT and your GPA is lower than 4.17, know that scores close to the average MIT SAT scores or ACT scores can counterbalance a lower GPA.

Not All GPAs are Created Equal
There is wide variability in the scale used to calculate GPA. GPAs can be based on a 4.0, 5.0 or 6.0 scale. Also, there are different weights applied to grades used in calculating a GPA. Some schools give plus/minus grades and some do not.

Of the 11,924 applicants, MIT accepted only 685 students, with an early acceptance rate of 5.7%, to the Class of 2027. The university deferred 7,892 applicants, rejected 2,815 applicants and 532 withdrew before decisions were announced.
In terms of standardized test scores, MIT students have slightly higher averages, with an SAT score of 1520 and an ACT score of 35, compared with Harvard's averages of 1480 and 35. Overall, these slight differences are nominal, meaning that both schools are extremely hard to get into.
According to Niche, MIT is the #5 hardest school to get into, and Harvard is the #2 hardest school to get into. Harvard has a college acceptance rate of 3.19% compared to the MIT acceptance rate of 3.9%.
