Lost City is an unincorporated community in Calaveras County, California, 11 miles from Angels Camp along Bear Creek. It lies at an elevation of 1053 feet. Lost City was constructed in the 1870s by Eugene Barbe. It consists of roughly one dozen stone buildings, which may have been an early Icarian commune.
Cahokia – Located near present-day St. Louis, Missouri. At its height Cahokia is believed to have had a population of between 40,000 and 80,000 people, making it amongst the largest Pre-Columbian cities of the Americas. It is known chiefly for its huge pyramidal mounds of compacted earth.

Which city is known as the Lost City? The Lost City, or Ciudad Perdida in Spanish, happens to be the archaeological site of an ancient city in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta region of Colombia. It was apparently found in about 800 CE, over 650 years before Machu Picchu.
Some lost cities have been discovered by chance, and some were discovered after long searches. Some were known and written about in ancient times, leaving clues for modern archaeologists, linguists, and other scholars. Others were forgotten soon after their demise, and never known throughout history thereafter.

Amesbury. Amesbury along with Stonehenge in Wiltshire is claimed to be Britain's oldest settlement, dating back to 8820 BC according to a project led by the University of Buckingham. The place is said to have been a transport point with the River Avon acting as a transit route.

North of Western Australia is the Pilbara, a sizable, arid area with a sparse population. The Pilbara area of Western Australia is home to the fossilized remains of the planet's earliest lifeforms. Because of the discoveries made in the area, it has been declared the oldest place on earth.
Coober Pedy, in South Australia, is almost entirely underground, was only founded in 1916, and now has a population of 1,600.
