Indians on average had a mesorrhine nose as compared to Caucasians and Orientals who have a leptorrhine nose and Africans who have a platyrrhine nose. We thus conclude that the Indian nose should be considered a different entity in comparison to the nose of Caucasian, Oriental, and African populations.
North Indians had the longest (52.69 mm nasal height) but the narrowest nose (35.01 mm width), thus having a leptorrhine nose with Caucasoid features. South Indians had the broadest nose (nasal width = 38.66 mm), whereas subjects from the Himalayan region had the shortest nose (nasal height = 47.2 mm).
The Turned-up Nose
It is considered one of the most aesthetically pleasing forms of the nose. This nose shape has concave features that display a depression in the mid-part and a tip that protrudes slightly. Most people find the nose attractive if the curvature of the bridge is gentle.
Europeans have a nose with a narrow bridge. People from north Europe have wide-base noses and protruded tips, while natives to northwest Europe have pointing-up noses. In general, European people have slightly wider and longer noses compared to other ethnic groups in the world.
Typically, Europeans have small bridges on their noses. Natives of north Europe have noses with wide bases and protruding tips, whereas those of northwest Europe have noses that point upward. In general, compared to other ethnic groups around the world, Europeans have slightly larger and longer noses.
The aboriginal nose is remarkable for three things: (i) The absence of any true tip to the nose, there being a convex ellipsoidal area instead of a true tip or point.
The aquiline nose was deemed a distinctive feature of some Native American tribes, members of which often took their names after their own characteristic physical attributes (i.e. The Hook Nose, or Chief Henry Roman Nose).
Two large-nosed parents are likely to produce a large-nosed baby, and two small-nosed parents to produce a small-nosed baby. However, when a large-nosed father produces a child through a small-nosed mother, the baby can have a medium-sized nose, due to incomplete dominance.
Ancestry and Genetic Admixture
Ancestry and physical appearance are highly related; it is often possible to infer an individual's recent ancestry based on physically observable features such as facial structure and skin color.
Nubian Nose
A Nubian shaped nose is most common found in those of African descent. Its typical features include a long bridge, wide base and the tip of the nose often pointing downwards towards the lips.
Women across Europe, India, Africa and the Middle East proudly flaunt spectacular, non-small noses. In many cultures, big noses are a sign of wisdom or prosperity and people would never even consider altering them.
Not only does cartilage grow, but earlobes also elongate from gravity, which can make ears look even larger. Our ears are 90 percent grown by age six, and our noses are almost fully grown by the time we're teens, but both can change shape and appear to enlarge as we age.
Anthropometric measurements showed variations according to type, with the African noses being the shortest and widest, the AFro-Caucasian the narrowest, and the Afro-Indian being the longest.
For many women, especially in India, nose piercings are a coming-of-age ritual of sorts. It signifies womanhood, elegance, and for some even a sense of rebellion. In Indian nose piercing is as much a part of tradition as bangles, a mangalsutra or a bindi.
In the current study, the mean ICD was 28.5 ± 1.8 mm, and the mean nasal width was 36.6 ± 2.2 mm.
As well as the tip of your nose (which is 66% likely to be passed down from a parent), the other most-inherited features were your philtrum (the area directly beneath your nose), your cheekbones, the inner corners of your eyes, and the areas both above and below your lips.
A perfect face is all about symmetry. Bigger eyes, narrow nose, higher cheekbones, fuller lips and an overall proportionate face is considered to be attractive and supposedly perfect.
All men inherit a Y chromosome from their father, which means all traits that are only found on the Y chromosome come from dad, not mom. The Supporting Evidence: Y-linked traits follow a clear paternal lineage.
Unlike nuclear DNA, which comes from both parents, mitochondrial DNA comes only from the mother.
Your children inherit their eye colors from you and your partner. It's a combination of mom and dad's eye colors – generally, the color is determined by this mix and whether the genes are dominant or recessive. Every child carries two copies of every gene – one comes from mom, and the other comes from dad.
Wide nostrils of the aborigines again appear to depend on a small number of additive genes compared with the narrow nose of the white man. The lips of the aborigines tend to be thick throughout, but generally not everted.
An ethnic nose job is different than traditional rhinoplasty. An ethnic nose job could involve correcting a flat nose, nostrils that flare out, or minimizing or erasing other undesired characteristics. Many candidates for an ethnic nose job are Latin American, Hispanic, Asian, or African-American.
