Atreus (Greek: Ἀτρεύς), also known as
In Greek mythology, Atreus (/ˈeɪtriəs/ AY-tri-əs, /ˈeɪtruːs/ AY-trooss; from ἀ-, "no" and τρέω, "tremble", "fearless", Greek: Ἀτρεύς pronounced [atrěu̯s]) was a king of Mycenae in the Peloponnese, the son of Pelops and Hippodamia, and the father of Agamemnon and Menelaus.
He's been shown to have multiple abilities e.g. mastery over languages, Spartan Rage, and precognition.
Atreus: Son of Kratos. Unlike Calliope, he is said to be a demigod possibly due to his mother Laufey being a Jötunn. Appears in God of War (2018). Pollux: Son of Zeus and worshipped as a god along with his mortal twin brother Castor.
God of War's Atreus is a version of Loki that most people haven't seen, providing a refreshing take on a classic character. In 2018's God of War, there's a big reveal that Kratos' son, Atreus, is actually the Norse God Loki.
In the game, Atreus' connection to Loki is slowly revealed through clues and hints, culminating in the revelation that Atreus was given the name Loki at birth. It was revealed that Atreus' mother was a giantess named Laufey, who had an affair with Odin, the Allfather of the Norse gods.
In God of War, Atreus is Loki. Faye wanted to name him Loki, but Kratos chose his given name. On the walls of Jotunheim Atreus/Loki's story is prophesied, which leads into Ragnarok.
While he wouldn't know it for most of his life, Kratos was a demigod as he is the son of Zeus, but he would later become a full-on god, the God of War to be precise, after killing Ares.
Just as Thor begins to repent for his sins and heed Kratos' plea to be a better god, Odin appears and kills Thor. Kratos, Freya and Atreus then battle and defeat Odin. Atreus uses Giant magic to trap Odin's spirit in a marble, then Sindri appears, snatches the marble and smashes it to bits with a hammer.
Faye was a giant, which makes Atreus half giant and half god. A prophecy reveals that Kratos is not long for this world and that Atreus, known as Loki among the giants, will somehow be involved in his death. Understandably, Atreus has questions about his lineage.
By the time we see Kratos in the series reboot, the man who once fought against gods and monsters on a daily basis was more of a nomad than a warrior. Fatherhood and losing a second wife have also taken a toll on Kratos, limiting his once-legendary strength to a fraction of its potential.
It was mentioned earlier that Kratos was vulnerable to intangible things like the Furies' illusions. If he can't physically attack something, he's left at a disadvantage, logically enough. The same is true of mind control. The most notable example of this is Zeus' use of the power in God of War III.
As the temple burned, a village oracle cursed Kratos and condemned him to wear the "mark of his terrible deed"; the ashes of his family, which turn his skin pale white, earning him the title "Ghost of Sparta".
The leading theories include the possibility of Deimos' birthmark being genetic and Atreus' scars being related, as well as possible self-scarification as a young Atreus was trying to look more like his father. Alternatively, it's just a coincidence, and Atreus got his scars in an accident or fight.
Once everyone and everything is accounted for, Atreus leaves for his own solo journey to save the giants as Kratos emotionally accepts that his son needs to forge his own path. Then, Kratos is assigned cleanup duty of the Nine Realms alongside Freya, in the form of missed side-quests and fetch-or-kill missions.
According to Kratos, Atreus is named after a young Spartan soldier he once commanded. Kratos noted how hopeful Atreus was, often seen wearing a smile even during battle, until he fell to save the lives of his companions.
It's still Loki who causes Baldur to be slain, since Loki is revealed to be what the giants call Atreus. He's still killed by mistletoe, since Atreus removes his magical invulnerability by putting an arrowhead made of the wood through Baldur's hand.
To answer the question right away, Zeus and Odin are not the same, nor have they ever been thought to be the same entity at any point throughout history. Zeus is the king of the gods in Greek mythology, whilst Odin is the king in Norse mythology.
Odin has pretty clearly been shown to be demonstrable more powerful than the other gods. Odin's Odinforce has far outstripped anything Zeus's magical lightning bolts have ever done.
However, Kratos did not kill all the gods, and there are close to a dozen Olympians that managed to survive Kratos' path of destruction.
Later, Kratos would become a god himself as the God of War, but after he was (apparently) stripped of his godly powers and killed by Zeus, there was no one else to take the title of God of War.
4 Saitama Can Literally Beat Kratos With A Single Punch
Saitama does not get excited about battle anymore, and that is because he has become the strongest known being in the universe. Like Kratos, Saitama possesses inhuman strength and endurance, but unlike the God of War, he has unparalleled speed and reflexes.
Kratos is Odin, and his son is Thor, God of Thunder.
The real-life explanation for why Kratos called Atreus "Boy" in God of War was that the developers at Sony Santa Monica weren't able to agree on Atreus' real name until relatively late in God of War (2018)'s production, but “Boy” soon became a popular meme for the game's fans and made Kratos all the more endearing in ...
Mimir (Nordic: ᛗᛁᛗᛁᚱ), formerly known as Puck, is a Celtic fae who became Odin's advisor and the ambassador of the Aesir Gods until Odin imprisoned him for 109 years. After being freed by Kratos and Atreus, he became their ally.
