Carer Payment is if you give constant care to someone with disability, a medical condition, or an adult who's frail aged. Constant care means you provide care for a large amount of time daily. This roughly equates to a normal working day. If this care stops you from working full time, this payment could be for you.
Carer Allowance is $144.80 fortnightly. To get this payment you and the person you care for will need to meet some rules. Read more about if you can get it. To get this payment, both you and the person you care for need to meet some rules.
There's no assets test for Carer Allowance but there's an income test. To get this payment your and your partner's combined adjusted taxable income must be less than $250,000 per financial year. This amount is before tax. There's no income test for the person you care for.
Carers Payment
The current maximum rate for a single person is $967.50 per fortnight, or $729.30 for a member of a couple. Constant care is defined as daily care which is the equivalent of a normal working day. The Treating Health Professional and carer are generally required to state this in the application.
The Work Bonus income bank is useful for pensioners who wish to work, particularly those who undertake intermittent or occasional work. Note: from 1 December 2022 to 31 December 2023, a one-off, temporary credit of $4,000 applies to Work Bonus income bank balances.

Carer Payment (CP) is made to someone providing constant care at under award wages to a person with a sufficiently severe disability in their home. The carer could be a family member or a friend, and they may or may not normally be resident in the home of the person with disability.
Does Centrelink back pay the carer payment? Carer Allowance claimants will no longer be able to have their payment backdated up to 12 weeks prior to contacting Centrelink about the payment.
Carer Supplement is an annual payment of $600 for each eligible payment you get. You'll get this on top of your regular payment.
The Carer Allowance is a fortnightly income supplement, while the Carer Payment is a replacement source of income. If you are receiving the Age Pension, you may have to choose between receiving the Carer Payment and the Age Pension.

You do not have to be related to, or live with, the person you care for. You do not get paid extra if you care for more than one person. If someone else also cares for the same person as you, only one of you can claim Carer's Allowance.
This payment is for those who, due to their caring responsibilities, are unable to support themselves through substantial paid employment. Carer Payment recipients can engage in employment or study for up to 25 hours per week (including travel time) and remain eligible for payment.

A carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.
If you're getting an eligible payment you'll get Carer Supplement between 5 July and 1 August 2023. To get Carer Supplement, you need to get an eligible payment for a period that includes 1 July. We'll pay you Carer Supplement for each eligible person you care for. You don't need to do anything to get this payment.
If you're a pensioner currently receiving support through Centrelink, you may be eligible for extra help with bills and medicine costs through the Pension Supplement. This supplement is a combined payment of Pharmaceutical Allowance, Utilities Allowance, GST Supplement and Telephone Allowance.
Recipients of the Age Pension are entitled to concessions through the Pensioner Concession Card described in chapter 7.2(c). People receiving the Age Pension may be eligible for more than one type of payment. For example, you may be eligible for both the Age Pension and the Carer Payment.
You do not have to live with the person you care for, but you need to live within a reasonable distance and provide 'constant' care, usually interpreted as equivalent to a full day's work. Both you and the person you care must be Australian residents, currently living in Australia.
A payment to help students with the cost of moving from regional or remote areas for tertiary study. The Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) is a one off payment of up to $5,000. It's to help eligible students with the cost of moving to study. This is for study after you've finished year 12 or equivalent.
The Cost of Living Payment is a one-off payment of $250. You'll only get one Cost of Living Payment, even if you were getting more than one eligible payment or concession card. It's not taxable. You don't need to report it as income.
Eligible pensioners have had $4,000 credited to their Work Bonus balance since 1 December 2022, increasing the maximum Work Bonus balance from $7,800 to $11,800. This measure extends the increase to 31 December 2023. The Work Bonus concession of $300 per fortnight will stay the same.
