Right now, Australia is experiencing higher prices for gas and electricity, for several reasons: the invasion of Ukraine triggered a global supply shock that has sent the prices of gas, black coal and fuels skyrocketing as Russia's oil and gas continue to be sanctioned.
One in four Australian households are finding it hard to pay their gas and electricity bills. As winter looms, energy price rises will make it even harder. Cold homes and disconnections resulting from energy poverty threaten people's health and wellbeing.
Coal accounts for about 75 per cent of Australia's electricity generation, followed by gas (16 per cent), hydro (5 per cent) and wind around (2 per cent).
Most of our electricity is produced from burning black and brown coal at large power stations. Natural gas is the third highest energy source in Australia (after oil and coal).
Move to renewable energy
Homegrown renewable energy is the cheapest form of energy, far cheaper than gas, and onshore wind and solar farms are the fastest to build. Soaring gas prices are fuelling the cost of living and climate crisis.
And not all forms of energy are usable and it gets dissipated as heat energy and sound energy. The energy that is wasted cannot be recovered. Moreover, the current sources or energy such as fuels are non-renewable in nature and are rapidly consumed. That is why we are facing energy crisis.

A point when it's too late for us to fully repair the damage caused by the impact of fossil fuels.
