Count Dooku of Serenno, also known by his Sith name Darth Tyranus, or simply as Dooku, is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, created by George Lucas.
His first name was Dooku. He was a noble and the sitting ruller of hiw homeworld of Sereno, so he was Count Dooku of Serenno, Serenno was the name of both his planet and of his Noble House, so if something Serenno would be his last name if he ever were to get one, which he didn't.
With that said, Christopher Lee's prolific Dracula performances in movies was most certainly inspiration for giving his Star Wars character, Dooku, a backstory that included him descending from a Count and Countess, therefore making him a Count of the planet Serenno.
By taking on the name Darth Tyranus, Dooku would therefore be reminded of his reasons for leaving the Jedi Order, especially since the Sith encourage the use of anger and hate as a tool to fuel their connection to the dark side of the Force.
Bottom line, Dooku never considered himself a Sith. And he wasn't; he was a man looking to change the galaxy in a way the Jedi were unwilling to try. And that is why he joined the Sith and became Darth Sidious' apprentice, Darth Tyrannus. When Dooku became Sidious's apprentice, he was already an elderly man.
Over the next decade, the galaxy was on the verge of civil war with entire star systems—led by Count Dooku, Yoda's one-time Padawan—threatening to secede from the Republic by 22 BBY.
Padawan Windu was trained in the ways of the Force by Jedi Master Cyslin Myr.
Vader's own grandson, Ben Solo/Kylo Ren, would follow in his grandfather's dark side footsteps to make the dark side supreme. However, Kylo Ren never took on the name of Darth, even though he worshipped everything about the Sith that came before him.
Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Yoda's Jedi instructor was N'Kata Del Gormo, a Hysalrian Jedi Master, according to an in-universe legend.
While Dooku was certainly evil -- and even had a Darth sobriquet, Tyranus, that he rarely used -- he was never quite a Sith, at least not in the true sense. Unlike those who espoused the Sith doctrine, Dooku wasn't motivated by hatred or fear, but by the same purpose that drove him as a Jedi.
After Obi-Wan Kenobi's capture on Geonosis, Dooku visited the younger Jedi – whose master, Qui-Gon Jinn, had been Dooku's Padawan.
Of course, Sidious didn't tell Dooku the full plan, so that didn't work out too well for him. Regardless, Dooku's eyes weren't yellow because he wasn't motivated by anger. He was merely a practical dark side user, so he does not have the usual Sith eye color.
As the son of Mother Talzin, the Zabrak male was taken from a young age by Sidious to act as his impressionable apprentice. The boy was raised as Darth Maul, a name he carried throughout his life. In Legends, it was insinuated that he was born "Maul" before attaining the honor of the "Darth" title.
With Dooku sitting on the Council, he might have pushed for Anakin to be given the title of Master. In turn, there would be no Darth Vader, no Galactic Empire, and no dead younglings. Sidious wouldn't have gotten away with Windu's murder and he probably would've been detained by Anakin and the other masters.
Studying Jedi Archive records, Dooku based his new weapon design after the curved hilts that were standard during the heyday of Form II lightsaber combat. The curve allowed the hilt to fit better into his hand, allowing for superior finesse and precise blade control.
Vernestra was enough of a prodigy that she eventually attained the rank of Jedi Knight at the age of only fifteen, making her the youngest Knight in a generation.
Sidious, born Sheev Palpatine, was trained in the dark side of the Force by Darth Plagueis. Eventually, Sidious took on his own apprentice, Darth Maul, and killed his master.
Darth Plagueis was a legendary Dark Lord of the Sith trained by the Sith Master Darth Tenebrous. At some point during his life, Plagueis acquired the protocol droid 11-4D.
The term "Sith Lord" generally encompassed members of both sexes, although some female Sith such as Lumiya, Tahiri Veila, Olaris Rhea, and Vestara Khai were styled Sith Lady. Originally, "Sith Lord" referred to a high-ranking member of the Sith Order's society.
Qui-Gon Jinn was a respected, independent Jedi Master who first located and identified Anakin Skywalker as the Chosen One foretold in the Jedi Prophecy. Born on Coruscant circa 80 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin), Qui-Gon trained as a Padawan under Jedi Master Count Dooku.
