When used in a clinical context, euthymia is not so much a good state as it is a neutral one in which you may neither be particularly happy nor sad. You may not even feel "good" per se but will at least be in a state where you are better able to function on a daily basis.
Euthymia refers to a “normal” state of being in which a person is not experiencing a manic or depressed episode, and it is the goal when treating bipolar disorder.
A euthymic mood is that time between major depressive, manic, or hypomanic episodes. It does not necessarily mean that there are no symptoms of depression or mania at all, but that if symptoms are present, they are minor and below the threshold of being considered a diagnosable mood.

Euthymic periods are sometimes brief, but they can potentially last for years. One study found that nearly 40% of participants stayed euthymic for 2 to 5 years, while almost 12% went 6 to 10 years without a depressive, manic, or hypomanic episode.
Mood usually is euthymic, except for periods of low self-esteem and decreased (dysthymic) mood. Mood and affect are not primarily affected by ADHD, although irritability may frequently be associated with ADHD. Speech/thought processes: Speech is of normal rate but may be louder due to impulsivity.

Changes in mood here can happen quickly and occur over a few days or even over a few hours. If there are four mood changes within a month, it is called ultra-rapid cycling.
