The relationship has become toxic and overbearing
If the relationship has become a catalyst for constant stress in your life, God is telling you to end the relationship. It is impossible for two people to be in a healthy happy relationship if there is consistent disagreement between them.
Most of the time, God does not “release” people from marriage. Rather, He guides and supports couples as they work toward reconciliation or resolution of marital issues. Divorce should only occur when there are valid grounds, such as adultery or abandonment, according to Scripture (Matthew 19:9).

Show compassion and understanding and above all, forgive them. Make things right between yourselves. Finally, don't forget that you are to love each other even as you wrestle with your relationship problems.

So How Do You Know Who God Wants You to Marry? He wants you to fulfill your created purpose. If you can find someone who will help you do that and who you can help in their pursuit of Christ—and you love being with this person--that's a good choice.
Understand its our duty to reconcile: 2 Corinthians 5:18 tells us that we are called to a “ministry of reconciliation” in our lives. As Christians, we do not have the option to let broken relationships lie and fester — we must work to repair them.
Psalm 147:3
The Bible says the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and heals the brokenhearted. So, not only will God provide comfort as you move on from a past relationship, but He'll actually help you do it. God will help you heal from the wounds caused by the relationship and move forward in life and love.
But how does God lead you to your spouse? One way God leads you to your spouse is by guiding you through prayer. Prayer allows us to connect with God on a deep level and ask Him for help in making decisions about who we should date or even marry.
Family ties and friendships are important. but, above all relationships, our commitment to Jesus must come first. When it does, we have the courage to walk away from any toxic relationship, no matter how close we are to the person. Jesus was clear that sometimes faith and family will conflict.
His relationship with us is solely based on His covenant with us. God wants us to remain faithful to our vows because He knows broken hearts, broken marriages, and broken homes can be redeemed for His ultimate glory. Does this mean that God wants us to remain in an unhappy marriage? No.
If your boyfriend crosses your boundaries every time and it makes you feel uncomfortable, then that is how you know when God is telling you to let go of someone. A relationship in which you repeatedly feel disrespected, bad about yourself, or can't be authentic is not a healthy relationship.
Psalm 34:18

In an unhealthy relationship, you might feel like you always have to walk on eggshells around the other person. Or you might feel like you always have to hide what you really think or feel. You might even feel like you have to give up the things that you really want in order to keep the other person happy.
But there is no better time to draw close to God than when you need to heal from something as traumatic as a breakup. Psalm 34:18 tells us that God is close to those who are brokenhearted and crushed in spirit. This is a promise from God because he doesn't want you to feel alone in your suffering.
Romans 12:9: Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Colossians 3:14: And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Ephesians 4:2: Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
God's love for people with broken hearts is clearly expressed throughout scripture. The Psalmist reminds us that God is near to us when we suffer from depression and despair. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed" (Psalm 34:18).
A Healing Prayer for a Broken Relationship
God, I miss [person] and hope we can heal our relationship. You know the problems that led to the break in our relationship, and you know how to solve them. Please help us both see our relationship from your perspective, so we can see the hope you offer for healing it.
Dear Jesus, I hold the person who hurt me up before you now, picturing them in my mind. Please help me to forgive them. Soften my heart and release me from bitterness and anger, no matter how justified it feels.

Any relationship that lasts needs forgiveness. We are all imperfect human beings, and eventually, we will run into misunderstandings even with those we love. We will hurt others, and others will hurt us. But if you can forgive a fault, love can be restored.
Dear Lord, We come to You today asking for Your direction and anointing in our relationship. Help us to be strong in our commitment to each other, and to grow closer together as we draw near to You. Give us the courage to be honest with each other and the ability to truly love one another with a godly love.
