Netflix
To enable Netflix's picture-in-picture mode on Android, follow the given steps: Step 1 – Open the “Settings” application and click on “Apps & notifications.” Step 2 – Expand the “Advanced” option and open “Special App Access.” Step 4 – Tap on “Netflix” and switch on “Allow picture-in-picture.”
Tap the Picture-in-Picture button to start watching your video via a floating window.
If Netflix's picture-in-picture mode is not working, you'll need to check your settings, make sure you're using the feature correctly, and relaunch the app. You can also try clearing your cache, updating, or reinstalling Netflix.
Netflix calibrated mode settings
Select Settings. Select Picture settings. Note: If Picture settings is not available in the Quick Settings menu, scroll to the right side of the menu, and then select Edit, then check Picture settings to add.
Picture Mode: Use Movie/Cinema Mode
For the majority of TVs, the Movie or Cinema mode is generally the most accurate, which means the image will look closer to what the filmmaker or content creator intended.
Netflix's Basic plans stream in 720p video resolution; Standard in 1080p HD. The Premium plan allows 4K Ultra HD streaming, which applies to Netflix originals and some acquired titles.
Netflix picture-in-picture mode
Open the Netflix app on your iPhone. Select a title, and play it. Once the title is playing (in landscape mode), flick the player up from the bottom. The player will shrink to thumbnail size and will display on top of other apps.
Press down on the video window with two fingers. Spread your fingers apart to enlarge the size of the video window; pinch them together to decrease the size. To restore the video back to its original size, tap the PiP icon in the window. To stop the video and close the window, tap the X.
If the video doesn't fill your screen or is off-center when you try to watch Netflix, it usually means that information stored on your device needs to be refreshed.
Your PiP mode not working issue may have resulted from a corrupt YouTube cache. In this case, clear the app's cache files, and your issue will be resolved. Clearing the cache doesn't remove your Google account from the app or delete your account data. Note that you can only clear the app cache on Android.
In the Safari app on your Mac, navigate to the web video you want to play. Click and hold the Audio button in the Smart Search field or in a tab. Choose Enter Picture in Picture. You can drag the window to any corner of the screen and the window stays put, even if you switch desktop spaces.
Netflix already allows background play so you can still listen to only the audio while the show or movie plays in the background. This is however possible on iOS, and not on Android. When you're watching Netflix and you lock your phone, Netflix will appear in the media player of the lock screen.
With Picture in Picture, you can watch a video or use FaceTime while you use other apps. The video window scales down to a corner of your screen so you can see the Home Screen and open other apps.
Netflix adapts to the TV
Because Netflix is an online service, the quality of your Internet connection determines the viewing quality. For HD and SD content, Netflix tests your connection and consequently assigns the best bitrate possible for your movie or TV show.
With a Standard subscription, you can watch Netflix on two screens at the same time. Those with a Premium plan are able to watch Netflix on four screens at once.
If you see video that is blurry, fuzzy, or undefined, you may have a weak or unstable connection to the internet.
Bottom line: Use Movie mode for an accurate image
Because it's almost always the closest to "accurate," we always recommend starting with Cinema or Movie mode. If you're used to your TV in Vivid or Sports mode, Cinema or Movie is going to look soft and red.
