It involves making a small incision in the armpit and applying an exclusive procedure only used by our Surgeons which encourages collagen formation which assists the breasts to lift significantly with no scarring.
A Scarless Breast Lift represents a great option for women who want to restore breast shape after weight loss, pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is also an ideal option for a woman, who through the natural aging process, has seen her breasts flatten and fall and would like a more lifted, perky breast silhouette.
Crescent or Donut Breast Lift
These procedures tend to produce minimal scarring as the incision lines are only created around the areola. The crescent lift only creates incisions on the top halved of the areola and so produces the least extensive scaring of all surgical lifting procedures.
Immediately after the breast lift procedure, incisions may appear red or raised. However, over time they should gradually fade into a thin white line. Topical creams that are available over-the-counter as well as laser skin treatments may further reduce the appearance of breast lift scarring.
The no vertical scar breast lift works best for patients who have lost skin elasticity, whose breasts are long or narrow. Our Chevy Chase breast lift treatment creates a more rounded look and doesn't produce a vertical scar, as traditional breast lifts would.
The truth is that the nipples are kept on what we call a pedicle – a blood supply with an artery and a vein to allow the nipple and areola to get blood and oxygen. So, the nipple and areola are moved upward with breast tissue and soft tissue surrounding it. The entire mound gets elevated. There is no “cutting off”!
GalaFLEX Mesh is a knitted surgical implant that supports breast tissue during a breast lift to provide extra strength to the tissue. This implant is FDA-approved and is made out of a biocompatible polymer that eventually is safely reabsorbed by the body.
Breast Lift and Cup Size
Breast lift typically reduces bra size by one full cup. However, in a study featured in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, it was suggested that this has less to do with a loss of volume than with a restoration of comfort.
Breast reduction and breast lift patients are at a much higher risk of losing sensitivity than breast augmentation patients. Breast reductions and lifts include the removal of skin and the manipulation of tissues, making it far more likely that the nerves will be severed.
Saline Breast Implants
They are filled with sterile saltwater and require a smaller incision when placed in the chest. They are inserted empty and filled after being situated in the breast pocket. If they leak, the body will absorb the saline, so there are no health risks.
With all incisions, they will look the most red and be the most raised right after surgery and in the days following. Over time, scars begin to fade, becoming lighter and flatter. After about 6 months to a year, your scars will more or less have their permanent look.
You should avoid going braless before the six-week mark after your surgery. Dr. Howland requires patients to wear their compression bra for several weeks at all times except when bathing to aid the healing process.
It is very normal for your breasts to feel "hard and high" the first couple of weeks after surgery. As the swelling subsides they will soften and drop. Your surgeon will most likely give you a massage regimen to begin in order to coax the healing along in the right direction.
Extra skin, and sometimes some breast tissue, will be removed and your nipple and areola may be moved. Sometimes, women have breast augmentation (enlargement with implants) when they have a breast lift.
Breast lift surgery is an excellent way to raise the breasts to create a more youthful silhouette. However, like any other surgery, its results don't last forever. Skin continues to stretch as we age, and breasts gradually begin to sag.
Typically, a breast lift (medically referred to as mastopexy) reduces bra size by one cup. However, this is usually not the result of volume loss. When excess skin and sagging breast tissue are removed or repositioned, cup sizes are naturally reduced. For many women, this is a good thing.
After your breast surgery, we recommend using a strong supportive cotton front closure bra without an underwire. This is recommended after breast augmentation, breast reduction surgery, breast revision, and breast lift surgeries.
Can you get a breast lift through Medicare? Yes, you can get a breast lift covered by Medicare if it is deemed as a medical necessity by your doctor and you meet the strict criteria. Medically necessary situations include reconstruction after a mastectomy or reduction to help with the pain.

In this non-surgical procedure, Botox is injected into strategic points within the pectoralis minor chest muscle. Botox functions by temporarily paralyzing chest tissue in those muscles that pull down the breast. This, in turn, forces opposing muscles to strengthen, giving the bosom an added lift.
A breast lift without implants, called mastopexy, may also be referred to as an auto augmentation breast lift when all existing or remaining breast tissue is used to enhance the breast or even adding fat from a fat grafting procedure to increase breast volume.
Patients typically are off work for three to seven days. There are no restrictions after three weeks postoperatively. It usually takes 6 to 12 weeks for the breasts to achieve their final shape.
