Sydney has been named the best city in the world to live, by a survey conducted by Brand Finance. The inaugural Brand Finance City Index surveyed 15,000 people around the world about the best cities based on seven key dimensions.
According to the latest survey by real estate and tourism consultancy Resonance, London has been named as the best city in the world for 2023, beating Paris, New York, Japan, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and many other popular cities across the globe.
Resonance, a global tourism adviser, has built what they describe as the “most comprehensive city ranking on the planet.” In spite of challenges raised by the pandemic (and Brexit, and government changes) this report found London to be the World's Best City in 2023, for the seventh year in a row.
In 2030, Jakarta will be the world's largest megacity, with a population of 35.6 million people, surpassing Tokyo, now ranked first, which will lose ground as its population ages. Osaka, meanwhile, will become the megacity with the highest number of people over 65, or 31% of the inhabitants.

The GCI's rankings of the top cities in 2022 reflect the self-reinforcing strength of the world's leading global cities. The top four cities on the list—New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo—are unchanged from 2021 (see figure 1).
