If possible, don't tan 24 hours to 48 hours before your wax. Pre-wax tanning is asking for your skin to be more sensitive; thereby causing more discomfort during your wax. Post-wax tanning may cause a sunburn. Waxing exfoliates, after all, removing the top layer of dead surface-skin cells.
Our advice is to wait 24 to 48 hours so your skin has time to heal and hair follicles can close. Doing so will prevent any further skin irritation.
Medical experts recommend waiting for 24-48 hours after any type of bikini wax. This time period is when your body can be most susceptible to outside bacteria, which can potentially cause an infection.
Thompson recommends waiting at least 24 hours before a super-intense session at the gym. This gives skin time to heal. If you can't hold out that long, low-intensity workouts like restorative yoga are your best bet.
For at least 24 hours, you'll want to avoid saunas, tanning beds, and even the gym. Wait for Sex: Give yourself about 2 days, or 24-48 hours, to recover from the wax before engaging in any sexual activity. Keep it Loose: Avoid tight and constricting clothing for a few days after your wax.
POST WAXING CARE
Avoid exercise, hot bath/shower, sauna, steam, hot tub, pools and beaches 24 hours after waxing. Sweating can carry bacteria into the pores and can irritate the skin after waxing.
There's nothing like a bath when you need to relax (goodbye muscle tension), but it's best to steer clear for 24 hours after your wax appointment. The heat will aggravate any post-wax irritation and redness, it will dry out your skin and open up your pores (a shortcut to ingrown hairs).
NO hot shower or bath for at least 12 hours.
This makes it susceptible hot water entering the open hair follicle during a shower or bath. This will irritate the area and create discomfort. Once your follicles close you can return to your normal bathing routine. Just use warm or cool water for bathing after a wax.
Showering After Waxing
Generally speaking, it's not recommended to bathe for 24 hours after a waxing session.
It's perfectly fine to take a cool or warm shower after your wax, however, I recommend waiting at least 5-8 hours for the skin to recover. Avoid hot showers or steam rooms after your wax. Hair follicles remain open for hours after waxing, so it's best to avoid contact with any excess moisture for at least 24 hours.
You will gain the most benefits out of waxing when you schedule your appointments 2 to 5 weeks apart. For the legs, you will need to wax every 3 to 5 weeks. For the face, bikini line, and underarms, you will need to wax every 2 to 3 weeks.
Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours after waxing. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours. Do not use exfoliating products (AHAs, scrubs, etc.) or loofahs for at least 24 hours after waxing as they might further irritate your skin.
First of all, people can shave the hairs they've missed during waxing, and it won't harm the skin in any way if the client doesn't suffer from any sensitivity problems.
DON'T use fragrance products such as deodorant and perfume after waxing as it might cause skin irritation such as post-waxing pimples and redness. DON'T apply talcum powder right after waxing as it might clog your pores and cause ingrown hair. DON'T apply make-up after a facial wax.
Waxing is helpful in reversing the effects of sun tanning on your skin. It has the ability to remove dead skin cells as well as your tan. As a result, when the epidermal layer is removed, a new layer is produced that matches your original skin tone. This removes the tan and gives your skin a new sheen.
Water can also easily carry various kinds of bacteria, which can also harm freshly waxed skin. Not to mention how harsh chlorine and sand can be! It's best to steer clear of the water for 48 hours following a wax to keep skin safe.
To prevent bumps and ingrowns, try applying a cold pack to the waxed area immediately following your service, which will close the pores and block bacteria from entering.
Avoid hot showers, bath, saunas or swimming for the first 24 hours. Avoid sun exposure. Do not engage in any strenuous activity or exercise which involves excessive sweating. Avoid deodorant or products for the first 24 hours that may clog your pores.
DO moisturize after waxing. Using gentle oil-based products, such as baby oil, can help to remove any wax residue while keeping the skin supple. If you prefer using a lotion-based after-wax care, try our 'Rub Me Down' lavender and chamomile moisturizer.
Avoid Soap and Harsh Cleansers: Avoid harsh cleansers and soap that can potentially irritate the open pores and sensitive skin. In fact, do not use soap for the next 24 hours. Since waxing is a nightmare for most of the ladies out there but it is not as bad or painful as we have made it in our own subconscious mind.
Don't exfoliate 24 hours to 48 hours prior to waxing to avoid irritation. (Though we absolutely encourage you to exfoliate a few times weekly in between wax appointments to keep skin soft.) Don't coat your body with lotions, potions, creams or any of the sort the day of your wax.
If the hairs are too short in the bikini area, they will not adhere to the wax for removal. The same goes for hairs that are longer than 1/4 inch. You always want to make sure you trim any longer hairs before the waxing appointment.
9) Don't use perfumed products for 24 hours
These include items like body sprays, deodorant, scrubs or self-tanner. They can irritate your open underarm hair follicles. Unlike underarm shaving every other day, waxing provides results you'll love for weeks!
Lastly, your hair may be growing back quickly after a waxing treatment due to a diagnosed or undiagnosed medical issues. Hormone fluctuations caused by conditions like Polycystic ovary syndrome and some medications can all be potential factors as to why your hair is growing back at a faster rate.
