Our advice is to wait 24 to 48 hours so your skin has time to heal and hair follicles can close. Doing so will prevent any further skin irritation.
Medical experts recommend waiting for 24-48 hours after any type of bikini wax. This time period is when your body can be most susceptible to outside bacteria, which can potentially cause an infection.
Clients can do the same if they find new hairs after a wax, but it's best to leave these hairs alone after the fourth day following treatment.
POST WAXING CARE
Avoid exercise, hot bath/shower, sauna, steam, hot tub, pools and beaches 24 hours after waxing. Sweating can carry bacteria into the pores and can irritate the skin after waxing.
Waxing will cause the pores to open, therefore leaving the skin slightly vulnerable for 24-48 hours. The area should be kept clean and nourished with special post-wax lotions to keep the skin smooth and healthy.
If you're going to bathe after waxing, try to at least avoid doing so no sooner than 2 hours after hair removal, and give your skin a chance to breathe!
If you wax one area and have hair left, move onto another to let that one rest, then come back and try again. Use tweezers to pull stray, lingering hairs to prevent over-waxing and irritating skin. Remember: Practice makes perfect!
It may take up to three waxing treatments to achieve smooth skin due to the fact that hair grows in stages and all of your hair is never at the same stage. It is very important to avoid shaving between waxing appointments, as this will interrupt the process and stimulate the hair growth again.
If you experience stubble in a few days after your appointment it is most likely hairs that were not waxed, but tiny hairs that were under the surface coming through. Generally, clients start to see minor outgrowth at about two weeks.
"Waxing opens your pores and makes the area more sensitive than usual," says Faris. Wearing too-tight pants afterward can cause a rash, so dress in your baggiest pants and go commando if you feel comfortable doing so.
No Synthetics: Wear looser clothing and natural fabrics, like cotton, so that skin can breathe easy as it calms down post treatment. Also, you may want to shy away from thongs to prevent added irritation after a freshly waxed bikini.
NO hot shower or bath for at least 12 hours.
This will irritate the area and create discomfort. Once your follicles close you can return to your normal bathing routine. Just use warm or cool water for bathing after a wax.
Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours after waxing. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours. Do not use exfoliating products (AHAs, scrubs, etc.) or loofahs for at least 24 hours after waxing as they might further irritate your skin.
To prevent bumps and ingrowns, try applying a cold pack to the waxed area immediately following your service, which will close the pores and block bacteria from entering.
You will not have to get completely naked for a Brazilian wax. Of course, any clothing from the waist down will have to be removed, but anything from the waist up can stay on. One thing to suggest to your clients is adequate clothing to wear for their Brazilian wax.
Once you've received a successful wax, getting it back to ¼ of an inch hair growth for waxing should take a minimum of at least two weeks on finer hair areas like the face, and four to six weeks on thicker hair, as found in the pubic region.
After a wax, the hairs that were in the resting phase will begin growing back, and that's why you'll see hair regrowth in a matter of weeks but not as thick as before. On average, a wax will last you three to four weeks.
Lastly, your hair may be growing back quickly after a waxing treatment due to a diagnosed or undiagnosed medical issues. Hormone fluctuations caused by conditions like Polycystic ovary syndrome and some medications can all be potential factors as to why your hair is growing back at a faster rate.
"For a bikini wax, those who frequent the beach benefit from waxing their bikini line every two weeks. But for a full bikini or Brazilian bikini service, you're recommended to come in every three to four weeks. This allows the proper amount of time for regrowth," Coba says.
You can shower after waxing, which helps to get rid of the little bumps that may appear after the hair grows back. If you don't shower right away, you might end up with stubble and some ingrown hairs. Use lukewarm water and some natural soap around two hours after your wax.
Remember to skip the moisturizer on the day of the waxing appointment, as it could coat the area, making the hair too slippery for the wax to grip. Moisturizer could also clog the pores after waxing. It's best to avoid applying moisturizer to the skin for about 24 hours surrounding your waxing appointment.
Brazilian - This goes further in than a bikini and leaves a strip/line from the top and all the down and it is not waxed underneath. Hollywood - This is all hair removed from front and back. Playboy - This is all hair removed from the front and back like a Hollywood, but we leave a strip/triangle at the very top.
