The Carer Supplement is an annual payment of $600 which is attached to each Carer Allowance. The Supplement is paid in July each year.

The carer must be in receipt of Carer Allowance or Carer Payment on 1 July each year. The supplement is $600 each year for each eligible payment and each care receiver. There is no need to claim this separately as it is paid automatically.
You can get up to $600 for each person you provide care for.
The Carer Adjustment Payment (CAP) is a one off ex-gratia payment providing financial assistance of up to $10,000 to families in exceptional circumstances who do not qualify for any Government income support payments.
If you are in receipt of an eligible payment on 1 July, a $600 Carer Supplement is automatically payable in July each year. You can receive the Carer Supplement for each eligible payment so you may receive more than one supplement amount.
