Parents need to know that while The Addams Family is based on the classic 1960s sitcom, it's a much darker comedy with more sophisticated humor. While the movie is fun, it contains violent images and strong sexual innuendo. It also contains scenes featuring the use of various weapons and torture devices.
The Addams Family is a funny movie but the laughs come from some fairly dark places. There's a lot of talk of torture in the film, and even though Wednesday and Pugsley are meant to be likable, you definitely don't want your kids emulating their behavior.
Aside from the disturbing and violent scenes mentioned above, there is nothing else in The Addams Family that's likely to frighten children aged 5-8 years. It's unlikely that children aged over eight years will be frightened by The Addams Family.

There really isn't too much to be concerned about for younger kids with this movie, assuming they like the spooky & creepy life of the Addams Family. If they scare easily or are not fans of Halloween-time, then maybe skip this one until they are a bit older.

Fine for the Whole Family. Having just run through all the older Addams Family movies, this was a nice recent addition for our 5 and 7 year olds. They both enjoyed it and mom and dad enjoyed it more than some of the other addams family movies. We think its safe for all ages.

First, it's worth noting that the maker of Stranger Things, Netflix, has rated it TV-14. That means they don't think it's appropriate for anyone under 14 to watch it. Of course, not all 14-year-olds are the same. At 14 years old, I watched things much more gruesome (I became a wimp later in life).
