While a variety of other dermal fillers also do an adequate job of treating nasolabial folds and marionette lines, Juvéderm Vollure XC has proven to be the most effective. Juvéderm Vollure XC is a thin filler that works to smooth out the wrinkles and fine lines around your nose and mouth.
Dermal fillers can remove the “sad” look caused by marionette line wrinkles and nasolabial folds by restoring lost volume. Marionette line treatments soften the appearance of these unwanted creases, rejuvenating the lower face.
Juvederm Vollure is a hyaluronic acid facial filler, specifically designed for the nasolabial folds and for the parenthesis around the mouth. This is the longest lasting dermal filler on the market for the mid-face, lasting up to 18 months.
Dermal Filler
Perhaps the most popular treatment for nasolabial fold concerns, hyaluronic acid (HA)-based dermal filler, like Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and Belotero®, can be artfully injected to lift and smooth the creases without simply plumping up the lines themselves.
Both Restylane and Juvederm are incredibly effective in reducing the appearance of nasolabial folds, also known as “smile lines.” Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Ultra Plus can both help to reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds, and Juvederm Vollure was initially created to reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds ...
Nasolabial folds
If it's something that bothers you, dermal filler can be used to treat the area, and, typically, a practitioner will use anywhere from 0.5ml to 2ml filler per side, depending on the individual and how deep the lines are.
While the results may be similar, Bellafill lasts much longer than its counterparts. Bellafill patients have reported results lasting upwards of 7 years or even longer, whereas the results of other fillers vary from 6 months to 3 years.
Cost of dermal filler in marionette lines:
Typically 1-2mls at least are required. Some patients will require more than this.
Juvederm Ultra Plus is the most common dermal filler to treat this area and, during the procedure, is injected into the surrounding areas of the marionette line to provide structural integrity. Patients can expect the results to last up to one year.
Most nasolabial folds will typically require two syringes to fully correct. One syringe of Juvederm is sometimes sufficient for mild nasolabial folds. For lip augmentation, one syringe will sculpt and enhance the lips. The change will be noticeable but subtle.
Bellafill® is a dermal filler that replaces lost volume in the skin for correction that is both immediate and longer-lasting than other types of fillers. Unlike temporary fillers, Bellafill is the only dermal filler that stimulates collagen growth long term to help maintain your youthful appearance for up to 5 years.
Lip filler and smile lines, also known as marionette lines, typically need between one to tow syringes, while the jawline can necessitate two to four syringes. If you're looking at filler for your cheeks, a good starting point is between one to three syringes per side.
Will cheek fillers correct my nasolabial folds? The simple answer is “no.” Patients often tell me that their aesthetician recommends improving the nasolabial folds (the diagonal lines between the bottom of the nose and the corners of the lips) by injecting fillers into the cheeks.
Dermal fillers are applied to the marionette lines and the corners of the mouth. This hides the shadow between the 2 areas creating a flatter shape. This smoothens out the marionette lines and reduces the appearance of the jowls.
That said, these injectable treatments take some time to integrate into your tissues, and it's normal for your dermal filler to take up to two weeks to fully settle into your face.
Botox is useful for relaxing the muscles that pull down the corners of the mouth, while dermal fillers are the “go-to” treatment for erasing marionette lines because they are more effective in adding volume to the lower parts of the face. Doctors may also recommend combining both treatments to achieve the best results.
Radiesse is a more long-lasting filler and used on multiple areas. Both Juvederm and Radiesse are effective in treating marionette lines, but Juvederm recommended for shallow marionette lines. Radiesse recommended for more severe marionette lines and wrinkles.
While it is possible for fillers to migrate, this side effect is extremely rare and can be avoided by choosing a qualified injector. Though filler migration is very uncommon, its likelihood increases when fillers are performed by an inexperienced or underqualified injector.
The good news is that you can still smile after getting a nasolabial fold filler! The filler is injected into the folds, not the muscles that control your facial expressions, so it should not affect your ability to smile.
How long does Nasolabial Filler take to settle? The final result is seen after 2- 3 weeks.
Nasolabial creases (dermal and epidermal defects) require a dermal filler injected into the upper or mid dermis for best results. Attempting to fill these creases with a deep dermal or subdermal injection may improve their contour but will not fill in the superficial dermal defect.
