That shot would make the family famous because at 8.6 metres, the reptile was, and still is, the biggest ever killed or captured in Australia. Krys's famous croc-hunting career started in 1955 in Kaumba, in Queensland's Gulf Country when a 12-foot reptile started creeping up on her three-year-old daughter, Barbara.
'Gustave' is so well-known and feared among locals that Hollywood even picked up on it. The movie Primeval is actually about the monstrous crocodile. Some rumors suggest 'Gustave' died in 2019. But there is no photographic evidence, and no carcass ever got recovered.
Since Gustave was never captured or killed, its length or weight could not be measured accurately. But based on eyewitness accounts, the estimated length would be around 20 feet and weight nearly a tonne.
He was 6.17 m (20 ft 3 in) long and weighed 1,075 kg (2,370 lb). Currently, the largest living crocodile in captivity, named "Cassius", is kept at Marineland Crocodile Park, a zoo located at Green Island, Queensland, Australia. It measures 5.48 m (18 ft 0 in) in length and weighs approximately 1,300 kg (2,900 lb).
The largest one ever officially measured was Lolong, who was a saltwater crocodile that measured 20 feet three inches long and weighed 2,370 pounds. Unfortunately, he died of congestive heart failure in February 2013. The largest crocodile alive is Cassius who is over 100 years old.

Since Gustave has not been captured, his exact length and weight are unknown, but in 2002 it was stated that he could be "easily more than 20 feet (6.1 m)" long, and weigh more than 2,000 pounds (910 kg).
While Lolong was probably bigger than Gustave he wasn't the largest crocodile on record. Lolong was 6.17m and weighed 1,075 kg, Gustave was never measured but estimated to be around 6m and 1000kg, only slightly smaller.
According to legend, Gustave has been shot three times by hunters attempting to capture him, but he's survived every time and bears the scars. He was given his Gallic name by French hunter Patrice Faye, who has lived in Burundi for years and has attempted to capture the crocodile to study for science.
