The Monaro grassland earless dragon (Tympanocryptis osbornei or 'Osborne's hidden ear dragon') is one of Australia's rarest reptiles. It is small, weighing between six and nine grams, and has a very short lifespan. It lays only three to six eggs once a year, just under the ground where the sun can warm them.
Agama lizards are sometimes called rainbow lizards because of the colorful displays put on by the dominant males. While most agamas are green and brown, dominant males show off by rapidly turning their bodies blue and their heads bright red or yellow.

THE MONITOR LIZARD
And coming in at the most intelligent reptile on the earth is the Monitor Lizard. Monitor Lizards can grow to be over a metre long and weigh more than 10kg. Monitors belong to a family of carnivorous lizards called the Varanidae.
Part of Hall of Reptiles and Amphibians. At 10 feet and 200 pounds, the Komodo dragon is the world's biggest and most powerful lizard alive. Komodo dragons attack deer, goats, pigs, dogs, and occasionally humans.
The Komodo dragon is the largest living lizard in the world. These wild dragons typically weigh about 154 pounds (70 kilograms), but the largest verified specimen reached a length of 10.3 feet (3.13 meters) and weighed 366 pounds (166 kilograms). Males tend to grow larger and bulkier than females.

Geckos. The gecko is another animal that can be a great pet. They are easy to tame and they do not smell. In fact, the gecko relies on this lack of scent to catch prey when they are in the wild.
Dr Hoskin discovered the gecko during a survey with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships. In a paper just out in the journal Zootaxa, it has been named the Scawfell Island Leaf-tailed Gecko (Phyllurus fimbriatus), with the species name referring to the fringe of spines around the leaf-shaped tail.
The most diverse group of Australian reptiles are the lizards. There are 617 species commonly known as goannas, skinks, geckos, dragon lizards, and flap-footed lizards (also called snake-lizards or legless lizards). There are more skinks in Australia than any other country.
Pink iguanas are not just a different colour from other land iguanas; they are a completely separate species. There are only around 200 left, and they are confined to the slopes of Wolf Volcano on Isabela, making them one of the most vulnerable species in Galapagos, as the volcano is still active.
All native reptiles are protected. It is illegal to keep exotic (non-Australian) reptiles in captivity. They must be acquired by a licensed keeper or supplier and cannot be taken from the wild. To keep a reptile as a private keeper you will need to acquire a license of the state or territory wildlife authority.

Perenties (Varanus giganteus), the largest known lizards in Australia and the fourth-largest in the world, generally grows to 5–7 ft (1.5–2 m), but can be somewhat larger. A 12 ft (3.6 m) perentie skin allegedly observed by naturalists was thought to have been artificially stretched.
Meet the land mullet (Bellatorias major), the largest skink in Australia, and among the largest skinks in the world. Found mostly in the rainforests along Australia's eastern coast, from Gosford in New South Wales and all the way up to south-eastern Queensland, this robust lizard can grow up to 70 cm long.
