Borax and sugar A mixture of three parts borax to one part sugar works similar to commercial cockroach killers as it dehydrates their exoskeleton. This combination works more quickly than using baking soda and it's also inexpensive, fume-free and environmentally friendly.
For best results, combine equal parts borax and white table sugar. Dust the mixture any place you've seen roach activity. When the roaches consume the borax, it will dehydrate them and kill them rapidly.
White vinegar is often recommended as a natural way to get rid of roaches. Unfortunately, it doesn't actually kill these problem insects. It's more of a cleaning tool than anything else, and it won't actually help eliminate your roach problem.

Maybe Australian cockroaches are different, but I can kill them almost instantly by hitting them with a jet of 70% by weight of methylated spirits+ 30% water (the optimum dilution of ethanol for antiseptic effect) from a spray bottle. Amazingly, once they are hit, they run directly towards the spray.

Oregano, rosemary, mint, eucalyptus, lemongrass and catnip are great herby options. Citrus oils work brilliantly too. And surprisingly, lower concentrations – 2.5 parts per hundred – seem to work best as deterrents.
Soap and Water
Just like the fabric softener solution, mixing soap with water can kill roaches on contact.
The different body parts, waste, and saliva of cockroaches are allergens for certain individuals. Even dead cockroaches can still cause some allergic reactions. Therefore, it is not advisable to step on a cockroach, as its crushed body parts can trigger some allergies.
We've recently heard a rumor that squishing a cockroach is a bad idea because it could spread the insect's eggs around, making more baby cockroaches. "The crushing in itself doesn't really spread eggs," said Louis Sorkin, a scientist in the entomology department at the American Museum of Natural History.
Taking a deep drink of household bleach would kill anything, roaches included. But the same strong odor that keeps people from taking a swig of bleach repels roaches as well. So though it could work, in reality, it will not. It is very difficult to kill an entire roach infestation yourself.
