Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital, is the second-worst city to live in among 172 cities worldwide, a new report shows. The revelation is according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in its 2022 ranking of the world's most liveable cities.
Melbourne, Australia's most liveable city!
Melbourne came in at No. 2 in the previous most recent ranking of 140 cities, in 2019, and was crowned the world's most liveable city for seven years straight until 2017. The city's score has dropped to 92.5, down from 98.5 in the latest list.
So… is Melbourne better than Sydney? Melbourne is good for culture, sport, food, nightlife and day trips. Melbourne has been hailed for its kind inhabitants and inclusive culture, with the city taking top spot against its global peers, according to the Benchmarking Melbourne 2023 report released on Thursday.
Sydney regains the top spot as Australia's largest city for 2021, but Melbourne is close on its heels.

Perth features in the top 5% of more than 450 cities worldwide ranked by the Mercer Quality of Living Survey (March 2019), and consistently ranks in the top 10 of the Economist Intelligence Unit's World's Most Liveable Cities survey (out of 173 cities), reaching equal best rating of 6th in 2021.
With 126,900 millionaires, Sydney made it to number 10 with the report noting especially strong growth in wealth in the Harbour City over the past 20 years, making it Australia's wealthiest city.
