Choosing Your Size. To help choose the right size, you will need to measure your bust, waist and hip. Use a tape measure over your underwear or form fitting clothing and compare your body measurements with those on our size chart, choosing the size that closest matches your measurements.
While a size XL is designed to fit a size 16/18, she may prefer to wear a size 1X which equates to a size 14/16. This is because the plus size section was designed with curves in mind. That means the arms will likely fit much better, the neckline will lay better, and the sleeves won't be too long.
From our women's pant size conversion chart, you'll find that a size 14 typically corresponds to a waist measurement of 32-33 inches. In International sizing, this is classified as Large (L).
Sizes range from 0-2 (extra small) to 14-16 (extra large). Smaller sizes are usually petites, and larger sizes usually found in women's or plus size departments.
All chest sizes come in three length: R(Regular), L(Long) and S(Short). An easy way to explain the difference between "Regular", "Long" and "Short" is, for "Short", both the sleeves and length of the overall jacket will be 1" - 1.5" shorter than "Regular", and same applies to "Regular" vs "Long".
Large (L): Large is a standard clothing size that typically falls between medium and extra-large. It represents a size that is larger than average, designed to fit individuals with broader body proportions or those who prefer a looser fit.
L means large and translates roughly to women's sizes 12–14.
Plus-size clothing is generally considered a women's size 18 and beyond. “Missy” or “straight” sizes range from 00–16/18, XXS–XXL whereas plus sizes range from 12W–28W, 0X–4X and greater.
US size 12 in women's dresses is UK size 16. This is equivalent to the L international size. This dress size has a bust of 98-102 cm (38-40 inches), a waist of 82-85 cm (32-33.5 inches), and a hips size of 105-108 cm (41-42.5 inches).
What dress size is a 'Medium'? This varies from brand to brand and by country. Some stores will consider a medium to be a size 10, while others a size 12-14. As an average, a Medium is likely to be a around a size 12.
