After surgery, the most common size of breasts is a small to large C cup, with average implants measuring between 350 and 500cc.
While some patients want to create a dramatically larger, perkier bust, others want to create a more modest, natural-looking bust. In our experience, most women tend to request breast implant sizes between 200cc and 500cc, with 400cc breast implants possibly the most popular.
When our participants were asked what their ideal breast size would be, the C cup was considered the most popular, with 39% choosing it above other sizes.
Most implants fall in the 300cc – 400cc range but implants from 100cc – 800cc are available in the US.
Silicone Breast Implants
These are filled with silicone gel that feels like natural breasts, and there are other benefits.
As a rule of thumb, most women will opt for implants between 200cc and 500cc, with anything under 250cc considered a mini boob job as it generally equates to an increase of one cup size or less.
Implant Volume
Implants are measured in volume, cubic centimetres (cc), rather than the cup size. A smaller breast implant can range from 150 to 200cc. The most popular sized implant is 300 to 350cc. A large implant is anything over 400cc.
Breast implant size is described in cubic centimeters, or CCs. The higher the number of CCs in an implant, the larger it is. Breast implants generally start at about 400 CCs and go up from there, with each 150 to 200 CCs reflecting an additional cup to cup-in-a-half in size.
A: A much-generalized rule of thumb is that one cup size is about 175cc. Therefore, if you are an A-cup and desire to be a full C-cup you should expect to try implants around 350cc. Q: My girlfriend was a small B-cup and she is now a D-cup with 350cc implants.
After surgery, the implants tend to ride hide and appear small due to the patient's skin tightness in the area. There is tightness because the implants increase dimension to breast tissue causing the skin to compress the implant's shape and size.
With standard sizing, you can expect a 32C and a 32D to be bracketed together as a Small, a 34C and a 34D to both be Medium, a 36C and 36D to equate a Large, and so on, up through the fit range.
According to a study conducted by the researchers at the University of Vienna, smaller breasts are likely to be more sensitive than their bigger counterparts. They are also more likely to get easily aroused for increased pleasure.
Contrary to popular belief, a C cup is not a large size. It is the most common size among women who have breast augmentation or breast implants. Having a larger chest isn't ideal for women since it can affect their posture and cause shoulder and back pain.
A general guide is that a 250cc breast implant matches to about one cup size in an average woman. In other words, a 250cc breast implant will augment an existing A-cup breast into a B-cup breast.
But for the average sized women with normal measurements, the C cup implants are between 300-400 cc. The 300 and 325 cc volumes can be thought of as small C cups. The 375 and 400 cc as large C cups. 350 cc might be considered a classic middle C cup implant.
That number represents your cup size. For less than one inch you are a AA cup, for one inch you are an A cup, for two inches you are a B cup, for three inches you are C cup, for four inches you are a D cup and for five inches you are a DD cup.
To determine the cup size:
Example: if your ribcage measurement is 31, and your bust measurement is 37, your bra size is a 34C: 31+3=34, so 34 is your band size. Since 37-34= 3, you've got a C cup.
Your breast implants may appear to be bigger or fuller once they've dropped to a lower, more natural-looking position on your chest and "fluffed" into a rounder and softer shape. Changes in the size or shape of your new breasts after augmentation can also occur as swelling and tightness subside.
Smaller implants weigh less, which places less strain on your natural breast tissues over time and minimizes risk of premature sagging. While no breast augmentation is meant to last a lifetime, chances are you will be able to go longer before needing to replace smaller vs. larger breast implants.
Moderate profile implants have a wide base and do not offer a lot of forward projection. They are flatter than other profile types, but offer the most natural looking breasts. They are suitable for women with regular-sized chests and shoulders.
Genetics: Some men and women are predisposed to having a fuller breast size. This can be inherited from both the mother's and father's side of the family. Hormonal Changes: Women develop their breasts during puberty as estrogen increases.
How Weight Affects Breast Size. Weight loss or weight gain won't dramatically affect cup size, says Daniel Maman, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Manhattan who sees several patients for breast surgery every day.
