Vermont had the highest White population share (99.9 percent) of its total population, followed by New Hampshire at 99.8 percent, and Maine 99.7 percent, while Mississippi had the lowest proportion of White population at 54.6 percent (Table 1).
Non-Hispanic whites make up 79% of the Midwest's population, the highest proportion of any region. At the same time, the region with the smallest share of white Americans is the South, which comprise 53%.
The five large counties (with populations above 10,000) that are whitest are Lincoln County, West Virginia; Leslie County, Kentucky; Dickenson County, Virginia; Osage County, Missouri; and Lewis County, Kentucky. Each has a population that is just more than 98 percent non-Hispanic white.
Texas has the highest Black population in the United States of 3,936,669, about 14% of Texas's total population.
The world's largest ethnic group is Han Chinese, constituting over 19% of the global population in 2011. In terms of the largest number of native speakers, Mandarin is the world's most spoken language.
Alaska. Alaska has a black population of 21,898, making up approximately 3% of the state's total population. The state also has a white population of 435,392, and the Hispanic and Latino population is 49,824.
Among metropolitan areas, the New York City metro area – which includes parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania – has the nation's largest single-race Black population, with roughly 3.0 million.
The majority of European Australians are of British Isles – English, Irish, Scottish, or Welsh – ancestral origin. While not an official ancestral classification, they are often referred to as Anglo-Celtic Australians.
Texas has the largest Black state population.
California has the highest Asian American population, with a total of over 5,866,435 Asian Americans. This is about 14.8%% of California's total population.
Hialeah, Florida is the whitest city in the United States with 92.6% of its population identifying as White. The non-Hispanic white population, however, is only 2.57%. By 2045, the United States will become minority white according to the Census.
White Americans make up 44.6% of New York City's population. According to the survey, there were 3,704,243 White Americans residing in New York City. White Americans of non-Hispanic origin make up 35.1% of the city's population. There are 2,918,976 non-Hispanic whites residing in the city.
According to a 2015 study by NerdWallet, the Atlanta area is home to about 2.1 million black owned businesses which is the highest in the nation. Established in 2005, the Atlanta Black Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to supporting and connecting black entrepreneurs in the Atlanta area.
Demography. In 2021, 1.5 million people in Canada reported being Black. The Black population continues to grow with each census with the largest increase (+349,000) from 2016 to 2021. The Black population now accounts for 4.3% of Canada's total population and 16.1% of the racialized population.

With a population that hovers around 2,000, the Toto are today considered one of the world's smallest ethnic groups, and, like their fellow Indigenous peoples from the Amazon to Australia, are experiencing the consequences of extractive industries.
(The native people of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea, have some of the darkest skin pigmentation in the world.) Although these people are widely separated they share similar physical environments.
Across England and Wales, 82% of people identified with a White ethnic group, 9% with an Asian ethnic group, 4% with a Black ethnic group, 3% with Mixed or Multiple ethnic groups, and 2% with other ethnic groups. Go to section: Explore constituency data.
Wyoming is the least populated state in the U.S. According to the 2020 census, Wyoming has a population of 576,851 people. Since the 2010 census, the state had a population change of 2.3%.
