While not all dogs have a strong odor, some definitely smell worse than others, such as Labrador Retrievers, Basset Hounds, and Cocker Spaniels, because of heavier sebaceous gland secretion. Breeds that produce less oil include Doberman Pinschers and Poodles. Regardless of breed, bathe your dog whenever he stinks.
Whippet. The gentle and elegant Whippet is very similar to a greyhound, except that the Whippet is a middle-sized dog that rarely barks. Their sleek short and smooth coat needs little maintenance and when it comes to smell, Whippets are practically odorless and possibly the least smelly of dogs.
#1 The Bloodhound
The Bloodhound has the most olfactory sensors of any breed, with some 300 million scent receptors.
In addition to being herding dogs, Australian Shepherds serve as Seeing Eye dogs, hearing dogs, drug-sniffing dogs, and search and rescue dogs. Because of their high intelligence, Aussies are well-suited to do a wide variety of jobs.
Whippet
Whippets are truly the least smelly of dogs, so much so that they are practically odourless. Their short coat also means minimal shedding and grooming. Similar to Greyhounds, Whippets are a popular racing and hunting breed. Despite their athleticism, they are surprisingly relaxed.
Kuvasz. This livestock guard dog has a thick double white coat, and like the Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky, lacks the typical "doggy smell." They are big dogs, sometimes over 100 pounds (about 50 kilos), and they do shed, but they will manage to do so without stinking up your house.
Even veterinarians and experts disagree on how often you should bathe your pup but the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals recommends a baseline of once every three months.

External irritants, allergens, burns, or bacterial/viral/parasitic/fungal infections can all be present. If your dog still smells after a bath, is excessively scratching or licking, has a lot of scaling, or is rubbing his/herself on the carpet, take them to a vet as soon as possible.
German Shepherd
It's no secret that German Shepherds are the number one most popular police working dogs — you're probably more likely to see this dog breed than any other when you come across a working K9 unit. German Shepherds make great police K9 units because they are intelligent, bold, fast and enthusiastic.
Dogs sniff for a wide variety of reasons, but it is primarily to gather information. Dogs have a much better and more refined sense of smell than us mere humans. When your pampered pooch sniffs and smells, they're learning more and more about the world around them, and the people or other animals in it.
Your Aussie will bond to his family and be protective of and loyal to them. Many dog owners are surprised to learn that even though Aussies have strong guarding and herding instincts, they are sweet and cuddly indoor dogs that can even be kept in apartments.
Attention Seekers
Aussies can be very clingy.
Lassie had more going for her than being a loyal life-saver. She was also a collie, a clean breed pleasantly noted for not having a doggy odor. Keep in mind, though, that collies do shed and need regular brushing.
According to Svartberg's data (PDF), a pinscher, a Bernese mountain dog, or an English springer spaniel might be the most disloyal since each ranks very low on playfulness, with moderate sociability.
The Tibetan mastiff is considered the most expensive dog, as it has sold for thousands and even millions.
Miacis did not leave direct descendants, but doglike canids evolved from it. By about 30 to 40 million years ago Miacis had evolved into the first true dog—namely, Cynodictis. This was a medium-size animal, longer than it was tall, with a long tail and a fairly brushy coat.
