In the [Deathly Hallows] book, Snape's dying words to Harry were "Look at me". Right then we did not realize the significance of his words but in the very next chapter when Harry goes through Snape's memories in the Pensieve, he comes to know how much Snape loved Lily.
"... have mercy..." Lily Potter's death practically set in motion the wheels for the entire series. She died at her home in Godric's Hollow trying to protect infant Harry, whom Voldemort was hell-bent on murdering. Winkey was a freed female elf who served the Crouch family After being freed Winky fell into a depression and began drinking heavily. At one point Dobby got Winky a job at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
He deserved redemption for suffering through the consequences of his father and his own behavior. His childish wish of becoming a Death Eater like his father was broken when he realized it was just that: a childish fantasy. The children at Hogwarts had to grow up too fast, Draco included.
One of the most beautiful moments in the entire Potter series came from when Dudley and Harry were able to make amends. This occurred in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when Dudley told Harry that he didn't think he was a waste of space. They even shook hands!
