After coming across a mortally wounded Soldier Boy, near-vertically bisected by a blast, in the aftermath, Mallory had then dropped a grenade by his feet before walking away, mercy killing him.
Soldier Boy was also categorized as a coward and extremely weak-willed, a fact emphasized by Soldier Boy wetting himself on the cover of The Boys #33. Eager to join The Seven, he was tricked into having sex with Homelander — believing it to be a recruitment test.
Soldier Boy was the original strongest superhero in the world, and even after being brought to the present day, it is only the upgraded version of himself that is more powerful than him.
Finally, M.M and The Boys manage to take down Soldier Boy with the help of Queen Maeve. Marvin finally opens up to Janine about his past and the truth about superheroes. He tells her about her grandfather who spent his life fighting for justice.
However, Noir's fear of Soldier Boy is surprisingly bigger than his loyalty to Homelander. When Noir escaped from Vought due to the news of Soldier Boy returning, Homelander was genuinely distraught over the news as he believed Noir always had his back.
Payback used the Soviet attack to betray Soldier Boy. Benjamin found himself ambushed by his teammates who launched a brutal attack against him. Although Noir's face was deformed and he suffered brain damage, the team were successful in knocking Soldier Boy out, by using Novichok gas, and handed him to the Russians.
In the 1984 mission to Nicaragua, all the Payback members turned on their leader. Soldier Boy put on a strenuous resistance and severely injured Black Noir, who lost part of his brain and half of his face due to flames during that clash, forcing him to wear a mask for the rest of his life.
Starlight was also able to survive being struck by Soldier Boy, the second most powerful Supe of all time. Superhuman Reflexes: She is fast enough to dodge things thrown swiftly at her; however, she is not fast enough to dodge A-Train when he is using his super speed.
In theory, Soldier Boy should be able to kill Homelander, assuming his power affects Homelander the same way it affected Kimiko. But there's no guarantee; Homelander could get wind of the attempt and kill everybody before they try something.
The grand finale of The Boys comic book series confirms that there is only one hero who is actually stronger than Homelander, and that's his (even more) evil clone, Black Noir. Created to be an upgraded version of Homelander, Black Noir proves his superiority in the final battle between these two deranged powerhouses.
Amazon Prime Soldier Boy is a war hero in both the comics and the show. In the TV version of The Boys, the character is also a WWII hero who possesses superhuman speed, strength and durability, again thanks to a special serum.
On the surface, Soldier Boy hates Homelander because he can't stand anyone else being stronger than him - but there is also a deeper reason behind it. Soldier Boy's hate for Homelander in The Boys reflects something much deeper than shallow supe rivalry — it mirrors his own underlying insecurities.
Powers and Abilities
Superhuman strength: Soldier Boy is not as strong as Homelander, Stormfront, or any other supes. However, he is still relatively strong, similar to a super-soldier. Superhuman Speed: Soldier Boy is able to dodge bullets as well as punches and blows easily.
Soldier Boy has super strength and an invulnerability to him, which basically makes him one of the strongest supes out there. Decked out with a shield, he is bulletproof too and has shown that he can easily go toe-to-toe with Homelander. While his combat skills may sometimes be lacking, he can still pack in a punch.
The superhero Soldier Boy was given a shield with an eagle emblem sometime after World War II, during which he preferred to carry a submachine gun. The shield is very heavy, as normal humans cannot lift it, while he can wield it with ease. In 1984, Soldier Boy and Payback were stationed in Nicaragua.
In the comics, Black Noir is a long-time member of the Seven, almost always shown in silhouette with his face obscured. His powers include super strength and supposed skills as a pilot. He is stronger than even Homelander; Mother's Milk states he can "[...] bench a dozen Mack trucks".
Flight: Queen Maeve can fly easily in the air.
However, Starlight does not die in the comics when the story finally comes to a close. She is fully prepared to die trying to defeat Homelander, but Queen Maeve actually saves her from his wrath. He is stronger than Homelander, who could hurl a fighter jet with one hand and kill Queen Maeve with just one punch. Superhuman Durability: Black Noir can withstand Homelander's heat vision and multiple anti-supe bullets.
Black Noir was murdered at the hands of Homelander. It was a shocking turn of events given that the silent enigma remained loyal to his leader no matter (and we mean no matter) what.
However, viewers will likely wonder why Black Noir's healing powers have not helped him recover from these injuries. He has healed from a variety of severe injuries throughout the duration of The Boys, but Black Noir's scars are too severe for even him to overcome.
“God please bless me I've been patient.” Soulja also shared a photo of him with his hand on his girlfriend's pregnant belly during the gender reveal party.
