And this goes for kissing babies, children, or even pets for six weeks after surgery.
Additional dos and don'ts after rhinoplasty include: Don't touch your nose: Patients should take great care to avoid putting any pressure on their nose, including even touching the nose, for at least 1 – 2 weeks after surgery, or until Dr. Khorsandi advises that it is okay to do so.
2 Weeks After Rhinoplasty: At this point, you will probably experience a dramatic reduction in post-op swelling, and any bruising will likely have disappeared. As swelling recedes, the new shape of the nose becomes more apparent and distinguishable.
Smiling or laughing two weeks after rhinoplasty should not be a problem other than causing some discomfort from the stretching effect.
Avoid constant “sniffing”, that is, constantly forcibly attempting to pull air through the nose as some people do when their nose feels blocked. This will not relieve the sensation of blockage; it will only aggravate it because the suction created on the inside will cause more swelling.
After rhinoplasty surgery, your nose will be extra vulnerable as a result of the changes made to this structure. Your bones, cartilage, and surrounding tissues will be more fragile as they heal, sometimes for up to a year after surgery.
One of the most commom questions: “When can I workout after rhinoplasty?” After rhinoplasty, light walking is OK within the first two weeks to control heart rate and movement of head and the nose. No strenuous exercise is very important during recovery. You can begin to workout by week three, half your normal pace.
The first week is the most critical period for rhinoplasty healing. After 7-10 days, patients can begin to use other sleeping positions. Be careful to avoid putting pressure on the nose, and if you can sleep comfortably on your back while elevated, continue to do so.
After about 6 weeks your nose will be roughly as strong as it was before the operation. The strength of the nose returns faster than the sensitivity subsides. So, even though the nose may be quite strong, it will still feel quite delicate and sensitive to the touch.
Answer: Bumped nose after rhinoplasty
It would be unlikely for a minor bump that only causes mild pain to cause any structural damage to the work that was done by your surgeon. Having said that, I would let your surgeon know about it.
I recommend sleeping on your back after your rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty. During your recovery, your nose will be delicate and malleable, so it is important not to sleep on your stomach or side, which can put pressure on your nose. This will not only cause discomfort but may also compromise your results.
You can rest assured that your nostrils will return to normal size once your nose is fully healed. While it takes about two weeks to see your initial results, it generally takes a year for patients to see the most optimal outcomes.

It is generally not a good idea to manipulate to touch or squeeze your nose after rhinoplasty for at least several months. Touching and squeezing could disrupt the sutures and techniques used for shaping your nose. If you are noticing problems or asymmetries, I recommend you see your surgeon as soon as possible.
Generally, swelling is the most common reason why your nose looks bigger after rhinoplasty, which is completely normal. As a general rule, half of the swelling in the nasal tip will be gone after a month, but it will take at least a year for the tip to reach its final shape.
Answer: Avoid moving tissue around the nose for a few months

Answer: Washing your face after rhinoplasty
In my practice, once the tape and cast are removed after 1 week you can wash your face gently with any cleanser you prefer. Usually, when I tell patients it is time to wash their face I get a jubuliant smile and a hug patients are so happy!
Sleeping on your side or stomach is not recommended for several weeks after the procedure because it places unnecessary pressure on your nose. Resting on your back in an elevated position cuts down on congestion and minimizes swelling after rhinoplasty surgery.
Many surgeons advise avoiding sneezing for at least the first week or so after your surgery. If you feel a sneeze coming on, try opening your mouth, to reduce the force on your nose.
Try to avoid yawning widely for two weeks if at all possible. Crying after nose surgery is even more heavily discouraged than other facial movements, because when you cry strenuously, your nasal muscles shrink, and the result can be inflammation, which you want to avoid at all costs!
Exercising during the first week after facial plastic surgery can cause irritation and pain in your nose and face. After a rhinoplasty, take about 2 days to rest. For the other 6 to 12 weeks, avoid straining yourself.
