If you suspect that someone has alcohol poisoning, even if you don't see the classic signs and symptoms, seek immediate medical care. In an emergency, follow these suggestions : If the person is unconscious, breathing less than eight times a minute or has repeated, uncontrolled vomiting, call 911 immediately.
Signs of an alcohol emergency
A (Alert): inability to rouse a person with loud shouting or vigorous shaking; inability of a person who was passed out to stay awake for more than 2-3 minutes; vomiting while passed out; not waking up after vomiting; incoherent while vomiting.
Drinking alcohol very quickly can lead to alcohol poisoning, which can be extremely dangerous. There is no minimum amount of alcohol that could cause alcohol poisoning.
Over-imbibing can have symptoms of an elevated heart rate, increased blood pressure and vomiting the next day after a night or period of heavy drinking as the body continues to flush alcohol from the system. Both conditions can result from dehydration, inflammation, and expanding blood vessels.
Check their pulse, then wait 10-15 minutes, then check it again. Make sure it's steady and getting stronger. If it's getting slower or weaker it means the alcohol levels are still increasing. We encourage you to wait a bit longer before you put them to bed.
Helping your friend
Remember, when someone has had too much to drink, their judgement might be impaired, so don't get angry with your friend. Get them a glass of water or a soft drink, or even order them some food. This will stop them drinking and give their bodies time to process the alcohol.
This is important to help prevent choking if the person should vomit. STAY WITH THE PERSON AND WAKE HIM/HER UP FREQUENTLY. Even though the person is sleeping, alcohol levels may continue to rise, causing the person to become unconscious, rather than asleep. If at any time you can not wake the person up, CALL 9-1-1.
Alcohol poisoning can happen when you drink alcohol quicker than your body can process it. It can make you seriously ill and you may need to go to hospital for treatment.
Do true feelings come out when you're drunk? True feelings may come out when you're drunk, but this isn't necessarily true all the time. Instead, alcohol can make people make fake stories and react with emotions they don't feel.
For example, the liver will be overworking to process alcohol, you'll be tired from little and/or poor quality sleep, you're likely to be urinating more as alcohol is a diuretic, leaving you dehydrated and headache-y – and any post-night out vomiting can irritate the stomach for several days. '
Alcoholic ketoacidosis
AKA typically occurs in people with chronic alcohol use disorder and people who binge drink, particularly after a bout of heavy drinking. Following a stretch of heavy drinking, people with AKA often cannot tolerate food for 1–3 days.
If a person is so intoxicated to the point that they are non-responsive, not gasping for air, hyperventilating or not breathing at all, or showing any of the other signs of alcohol poisoning, get help immediately. Call 911.

Heavy drinking can lead to pneumonia because alcoholics have lower levels of white blood cells that help fend off pneumonia. The damaged immune system cannot fight against the disease, which can cause intense chest pain, fever, painful coughing, and even death.
When drinking a lot of alcohol, it will make the pyloric valve not close tightly, leading to reflux of bile into the stomach, to the esophagus and causing vomiting of yellow bile when drunk.
