Deleting messages changes only your own Messages conversations, not those of your recipients. Tip: Use Undo Send to retract a message you sent accidentally.
Unsend a message
You can undo a recently sent message for up to two minutes after sending it. Touch and hold the message bubble, then tap Undo Send.
If you unsend a message, it will disappear from the recipient's screen, but they'll be notified that you unsent it. Now that you know how it works, here's how to unsend a message: While in an iMessage conversation, tap and hold the message you want to unsend. Tap Undo Send.
You can't delete a sent message from another person's device on either iOS or Android. What is this? If you delete the message or conversation, the other person will still have a record of it. But it will appear on your phone like a new conversation.
In Messages, tap Edit on the conversations page. If you previously turned Message Filtering on, the Edit button doesn't appear. Instead, tap Filters on the conversations page. Tap Show Recently Deleted .
How to Tell if Text Messages were Deleted. To tell if text messages were deleted from your iPhone, what you will need is PhoneRescue for iOS. Because it allows you to scan your iPhone, then you can preview all messages and iMessage on your iPhone, including deleted ones.
Text messages are sent via your carrier, and once they leave your iPhone, Apple can't unsend them. Undo Send works only for iMessage, Apple's encrypted messaging service that works using Wi-Fi or cellular data.
If you use Messages as your default messaging app, deleted conversations will also be deleted from your device. If you delete a conversation or message, it cannot be recovered. This action is permanent.
You can delete your copy of messages you've sent or received from your phone. This has no impact on your recipients' chats. Your recipients will still see the messages in their chat screen.
A: Your phone isn't communicating properly with your e-mail provider's server. As a result, when you delete a message, it disappears from the inbox on your phone but remains in the inbox on the mail server.
However, just because you erase texts on Apple and Android products doesn't mean they're gone for good, according to an expert on the Apple Support Community and Business Insider. They will be hidden, but they may still be saved in system data or elsewhere with your cellphone carrier.
You can't see deleted messages or conversations. Deleting a messagepermanently removes it from your Chat list. Keep in mind that deleting a message or conversation from your Chats list won't delete it from the Chats list of the person you chatted with.
Tap the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner and open the Recycle bin. Check your deleted text messages. Long tap the message you want to retrieve. Select Restore at the bottom and check the same in your primary inbox.
We designed iMessage to use end-to-end encryption, so there's no way for Apple to decrypt the content of your conversations when they are in transit between devices. Attachments you send over iMessage (such as photos or videos) are encrypted so that no one but the sender and receiver(s) can access them.
Tap the search bar and input the keyword in the message you are looking for or the contact's name whose chat history you would like to look at. Press the "Search" button on your keyboard to trigger the search. iMessage will scan through all your messages to reveal all the chats with the keywords you are looking for.

One of the reasons you may not be able to unsend a message after you've sent it is that the recipient blocked you. If you sent someone a message but didn't unsend it immediately afterward, they probably blocked you in the time that passed between sending and attempting to unsend.

If it's been longer than 2 minutes, you won't have the option to unsend.
