“Elvis lived in many places, but Graceland was always his home, and Lisa felt the same way,” he said. “At times of difficulty, she slept in his bedroom. Twenty-five million people have visited Graceland, but it was always only home to one person, and that was Lisa.”
The Upstairs Remains Off Limits
After the home was opened to the public in 1982, the second floor was sealed shut out of respect to the family — and also to avoid any macabre attention at the scene of his death.

In 1995, the hotel renovated and expanded what was Elvis' Suite. The original was 5,000 square feet. In its place now stands a 13,000-square-foot Italian palace.
Visitors also will encounter Elvis' first jumpsuit, a rather simple two-zippered 1970s number Presley wore in Las Vegas, accessorized with a long eyelet belt, as well as his final jumpsuit: The famous and much-worn "Aztec Sun" suit, which Elvis donned on June 26, 1977, in Indianapolis — his last concert before his Aug.
Why did Elvis not wear blue jeans? There are no jeans because Mr. Presley grew up in public housing, and, Mr. Kern said, “denim reminded Elvis of being poor, so he did not wear denim as an adult.” (Elvis did wear jeans in some movies, when the character called for it.)
If Elvis was too busy to come by the store, the brothers sent truckloads of clothes to Graceland for Elvis to try on and purchase from home. And if Elvis was in town and shopping with other patrons, he'd often buy clothes for other shoppers, no matter the price.
“The pink suit was based on looks that Elvis actually wore in the late '40s through the mid-'50s and that Lansky specialized in,” Martin said. “Elvis liked the black-and-pink combination and repeatedly wore lace shirts through the '50s along with black-and-white shoes.”
Elvis Presley's Memphis mansion may be open to the public, but his private area in Graceland's upstairs is off-limits. The King's daughter Lisa Marie Presley has her own personal key for the secret area, while she requires the space be perfectly preserved just as her father left it.

Did Ginger Alden Attend Elvis' Funeral? Yes. As his fiancée at the time, it is believed that Ginger Alden was present for Elvis' funeral. Following the funeral, however, she was reportedly banned from Graceland by Presley's family and had to receive permission to visit his grave.
The documents outline how the estate will be split between Lisa Marie's family members and specify that Priscilla will be buried at Graceland as near as possible to Elvis, her ex-husband.
But the upstairs rooms at Graceland remain private. What many visitors don't know is that after visiting hours are over, the Presley abode is still a home. "It shuts down quite nice at night," explains Lisa Marie, who visits her hometown often. "I have family that I love very much who live there in Memphis," she says.
While Priscilla insists they never had sex, saying the King wanted the woman he would marry to remain a virgin until then, he would control the way she looked and choose racy outfits for her.
It turns out Elvis was not exactly the easiest man to live with, and he had certain ways he liked seeing his women. For one? He didn't like to see Priscilla without makeup — ever.
