Crying out to God is an admission of one's coming to the end of self and placing hope in God alone. The psalmist declared, “In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears” (Psalm 18:6).
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
Ishmael (Gen. 21:7); Hannah (1 Samuel 1:15); Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20). Blind Bartimeus (Luke 18), etc., all cried to God because of the vicissitude of life and God showed them mercy. Even Jonah in the belly of the fish CRIED TO GOD and God heard him.

There they cry out, but He does not answer, Because of the pride of evil men. Surely God will not listen to empty talk, Nor will the Almighty regard it. Although you say you do not see Him, Yet justice is before Him, and you must wait for Him.
Psalm 18:6 assures us that our prayers reach the ears of God. He never ignores our requests or refuses to listen. In Jeremiah 33:2-3 God commands His people to call to Him, promising that He will answer. The Bible makes it clear that God hears and answers our prayers.

Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life, and he who believes in me will never die. Even though he dies, he will live.”. Like I know my dad, because he trusted in Jesus, he lives. He died, but he lives today.
Reformed theologian William M'Gavin opined that "the four sins that cry to heaven for vengeance; these are, wilful murder—sin of Sodom—oppression of the poor—to defraud servants of their wages" are greater in gravity than the seven deadly sins.
Joyful sorrow
Whether they result from physical pain, from emotional pain, or from an encounter with goodness and beauty, one of the gifts of tears is precisely that we pray through them. All of our tears have been taken into the divine life by Jesus, the one who has wept with us.
David prays “from the ends of the earth” (61:2). Although this could mean that he was far away from home, the sense of this phrase is more than literal. It speaks of neediness, when we are far away from what is comfortable, familiar, and safe.
Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
The bible tells us that David had a vow of praise unto the Lord. Seven times a day he would praise the Lord, and three times a day he would pray.
It is at this point in the text that God corners Samuel and tells him that he has mourned long enough and it is time for him to “stop crying over spilled milk”!
“Why do you cry out to me? Tell the people to move forward” (Exodus 14:15). God had heard enough crying out (Exodus 2:23, 14:10). God did not want the people to stand still and watch, as Moses had said. Instead the people were to move forward into an uncertain future!
Exodus 14:14 Reminds Us of the Power of God
And indeed, what God had said in Exodus 14:14 proved true. Just like his promises always prove true. The Lord will fight for you. He fought for his people.

James 1:7–8 says that the doubter “must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” When we go on autopilot during prayer and merely recite words while thinking about something else, we lack faith.
