“Do a light tidy before you leave,” she told Travel + Leisure magazine. “Leave soiled towels hanging on hooks or… in nice neat piles in the bathroom, not on the carpet, where they could leave a wet stain.”
If you would like your towels changed, please place them in the bathtub or shower. On check out do not roll up your sheets and doonas/blankets, this makes it harder for the housekeeper to prepare the dirty linen. Place all used bath towels/face washer in the bathtub or shower.
Gather all towels
Many hotels have signs in the guest room bathrooms instructing guests to leave towels they don't plan to use again on the floor (or in the bathtub) as a sign to housekeeping that you want them replaced.

While it may be tempting to take those plush, soft towels home with you as a memento of your stay, it's important to know that taking hotel towels is considered stealing. Hotels take towel theft seriously and may charge you for the missing towels or even pursue legal action.
Additionally, hotels often keep track of their inventory, including towels. If they notice that towels are missing, they may have to spend time and money restocking their supplies. This can ultimately impact the overall guest experience and potentially result in higher prices for future guests.
Don't do it. The hotels know, guys. THEY KNOW. According to a Miami-based company called Linen Tracking Technology, a lot of hotels stitch tiny microchips into their towels, robes, pillowcases, cloth napkins and other linens.
The dry and damp towels and rags can be tossed into the lined bag which can be zipped closed. The seams are completed sealed so that no odors will escape. Then when laundry day comes, the bag can be emptied out right into the washer. The bag is also machine washable in cold water and should be line dried.
The best floors in a hotel to stay in for safety and convenience are the second, third, and fourth floors. They are high enough in the building to avoid most burglaries but not too high in case of a fire. They are also more convenient than higher floors for entering and leaving the hotel.
As a general rule, it would be “with politeness.” You are polite when you abide by the rules of the hotel property. You are polite when you use the words “please” and “thank you” to the hotel staff. You are polite when you think about the comfort of other hotel guests.
It's not a widespread practice, but some hotel operators have taken to avoiding room number 420 entirely because of its association with cannabis and the troublemaking that sometimes occurs in rooms numbered as such.

The best place to keep your dish cloth is within your sink because you don't want water from the cloth dripping down to anywhere else but your sink. Moreover, your cloth needs to be hung in a place, where air can go through and helps them to dry quickly.

Consequences of Taking Hotel Property
If you take something from your hotel room, you can expect an extra charge on your bill.
"It certainly depends on the judgment of the housekeeper." So it's possible -- however remotely -- that you could end up with a towel another guest has used. But McInerney says it's unlikely. "Most guests aren't that tidy, and housekeepers can tell when a towel has been used," he says.
The short answer to your question is yes and yes—yes, many hotels do actually let guests reuse towels, and yes, the note is there to make the hotel seem as green as an organic farm.
Thankfully, once you make a reservation in a hotel, motel, or any other type of accommodation, the hotel staff make sure to clean your room and change the sheets of bedding, including the pillowcases before you arrive. However, pillowcases are still the dirtiest thing you can ever touch in a hotel room.
Make sure bed sheets are clean
If they look stained, crumpled or have hair on them, ask for a change immediately (or, better still, find a different hotel). Your nose can also be useful here – if they smell, it's a no-no. Check to see if the sheets have fold marks, and whether they feel crisp or soft and sticky.
