1870-S Seated Liberty Silver Dollar - This is the rarest regular-issue US coin, with only one known example in existence. It was discovered in a private collection in 1972 and sold for $750,000 at auction that same year.
This $1 coin is struck on a 5.66 gram copper-nickel planchet that should have been a 10 cent piece instead of the usual aluminium bronze 9 gram one dollar planchet. $999 over face value
There is a rogue $1 coin floating around Australia that could be worth at least $1000. The $1/10c mule coin, created in 2000, is worth much more than its face value, with some being sold for more than $2,700 on eBay, according to coin collectors.

The rarest £2 coins
