Many people believe Centrelink has access to your bank account and will take it into consideration for your payment rate. This isn't true. Centrelink can't access your bank accounts to determine up to date figures. They're basing your assessment on the last amount you gave them.
We begin our processing at 2:30pm AEDT and it finishes at midnight, so the time it's deposited will depend on the time we receive it. You won't be paid on a date later than what is shown on the Centrelink website.
Payroll payments requested before 6.00pm (AEST) on a bank business day will be processed to your account on the same day. Transfers requested after this time may be processed on the following bank business day.

How long does a funds transfer take? For a: Transfer from an ANZ account to an ANZ account via 'Transfer between my accounts' in Internet Banking, it is generally instantaneous but can take up to 24 hrs to process. BPAY® transaction, it can take between 2 – 3 business days if it was done prior to 6pm (AEST).
If you make a transfer before 6pm (AEST/AEDT) on a business day, the payee will usually get the funds the following business day. If it's after 6pm (AEST/AEDT) or on a weekend or public holiday they'll get the funds within two business days.

Processing times vary for a multitude of reasons such as the complexity of a person's situation and the volume of claims Centrelink is trying to manage at the time. People experiencing hardship are also (rightfully) elevated the top of the list.
One common type of fraud is providing false information, such as a fake name or address, to obtain Centrelink payments. Another type is undeclared income, where individuals fail to declare all of their income to Centrelink to receive additional benefits.
It's important to remember that if you do receive winnings, either as a lump sum or periodic payments, you need to let Services Australia know. You can tell us about your changes online, using your Centrelink account through myGov or on your Express Plus Centrelink app.
The ATO can, and will, check your bank accounts, cross reference payments against an ABN and confirm missing income from your tax return.
Payments to non-ANZ accounts
We take the money from your account immediately, and then send it to the other bank to process. If you set the payment up between 9am and 10pm, it will be sent that same day. If you set up the payment after 10pm, we'll send it the morning of the next day.
Usually, you'll have access to your direct deposit at the opening of business on your payday — by 9 a.m. In many cases, direct deposits hit accounts even earlier, often between midnight and 6 a.m. on payday morning.
If you'd like to make large payments, you can increase your daily Pay Anyone limit to $30,000. Simply open the ANZ Plus app, go to the Profile icon and tap on Payment Settings to update your limit. Remember to make sure you have the latest version of the app before increasing your Pay Anyone limit.
