The general rule is that if you are an emotional person, focus on the heart center (anahata chakra), but if you are intellectual by nature, then focus on the eyebrow center (ajna chakra).
The Root Chakra is the first of our energy centers and forms the basis and the starting point for our development. The vital life force energy of Root Chakra begins at conception and continues with life force energy dividing the cells during Embryogenesis.
The Root Chakra is the first Chakra and provides the foundation for the rest of the chakras that follow. The Root Chakra is the “starting point” for our seven energy centers and must be healed first before any of the higher Chakras can be unblocked.
Solar Plexus Chakra
This chakra regulates our fears, sense of power, and gut feelings. When this chakra is out of balance we experience fears, eating disorders, anxiety, and loss of control.
Crown Chakra
Imbalanced: Being judgemental, constant overthinking and over-analysis of day-to-day situations.
Often used in asana practice as a focal point, the third eye chakra is believed to control your intellect, intuition, wisdom, and spiritual power. According to this belief system, an open and balanced third eye chakra allows you to notice the connections in this world and beyond.
1st or Root Chakra
Physical imbalances in the root chakra include problems in the legs, feet, rectum, tailbone, immune system, male reproductive parts and prostrate gland. Those with imbalances here are also likely to experience issues of degenerative arthritis, knee pain, sciatica, eating disorders, and constipation.
Solar plexus chakra
This chakra is associated with feelings of anger, joy, laughter, and personal power. It is the area that contains your ambition, sensitivity, and general ability. Its color is yellow. Blocking the solar plexus may lead to a lack of direction, frustration, anger, or a sense of victimization.
“This chakra has the responsibility to control and balance the energy within our bodies and as the seat of the digestive system, the Manipura chakra also oversees and regulates the functions of the organs involved in the digestion process; stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, small intestine and liver.
Possible symptoms of an imbalance of the heart chakra are jealousy, holding grudges, grief, hatred, feelings of unworthiness, fear of betrayal, and physically, heart problems. Gratitude practices are healing for the heart chakra.
The sacral chakra impacts our femininity, our sensitivities and mental moods. The solar plexus, whose colour is yellow, affects our masculine features and characteristics. The Heart Charka is the Centre of the Chakra System and processes our energy into feelings.
Sacral Chakra (also called Svadhishthana)
This chakra is responsible for our physical and creative energy. When sacral chakra is balanced, you will feel passionate, joyful, and friendly.
Sacral Chakra – This energetic center is located inside the pelvis and is home to the energy of emotions, creativity, and sexuality. Blockages here can relate to anything from depression to addiction and general emotional instability.
The 4th Chakra, or heart chakra, is considered the center of the emotions love and grief.
Ajna chakra (third eye chakra)
Out of balance – Lack inspiration and imagination, or overactive imagination, lack of intuitive guidance, feel brain fog or sense of disconnection.
The animal designated to represent the Svadhishthana Chakra is the Crocodile. It symbolises laziness, insensitivity and the danger that slumbers in this Chakra.
The Heart Chakra is the fourth energy center located at the heart center. It's basic concerns are love, compassion, acceptance, and trust. Overwhelming rejection and betrayal, take a toll on the human heart and intimate relationships.
Signs the sacral chakra is out of balance include:
Inability to express emotion or desire. Constant fear of betrayal.
Study suggests that Tamsik chakra personality type may predispose to overeating behaviour and physical inactivity leading to obesity.
Other physical symptoms of solar plexus chakra blockage issues include nausea, bloating, and other digestive issues. Aside from physical symptoms, a chakra imbalance in the stomach can also lead to emotional distress as well.
Third Eye chakra (Agya chakra)
Associated with the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus. This chakra is the master instructor, responsible for giving instructions to the whole body. If this chakra is blocked, there could be multiple hormonal imbalances.
The Sacral Chakra is the second of the seven chakras. It is located just below the navel, right in the center of your lower belly and in your back it is located in the lumbar spine and associated with the colour orange and the element, water.
