Gryffindor's often thought of as the best house, as it's the focus of Harry's time at Hogwarts.
While the other houses seem cool and invite a certain allure, Hufflepuff is a little different. Often considered the least desirable of all the sorting options, here are some reasons why Hufflepuff house is the worst.
Since Hufflepuff isn't known for things like brains or brawn, the house is often considered the worst Hogwarts house.
Hufflepuff. Known for being the most inclusive house to invite anyone who valued hard work, the students of the Hufflepuff House are generally thought of as a good-natured lot, and pride themselves on patience, loyalty, and fair play.
Slytherin has been at the top of this list since Hogwarts Legacy came out, so it comes as no surprise to see it continue to hold its position. On the other hand, other positions have changed since release, as Hufflepuff was below Ravenclaw in the initial Hogwarts Legacy rankings.
Gryffindor. Gryffindor house is where you would find the pluckiest and most daring students (there's a reason the house symbol is the brave lion). The house colours are scarlet and gold, the common room lies up in Gryffindor Tower and the Head of House is Professor Minerva McGonagall.
Harry Potter and the measures of personality: Extraverted Gryffindors, agreeable Hufflepuffs, clever Ravenclaws, and manipulative Slytherins.
Unfortunately, Slytherin has constantly been associated with evil witches and wizards. Most of this negativity surrounding Slytherin came because of the rise of Lord Voldemort and his followers, the Death Eaters.
Worst: Lucius Malfoy
Lucius Malfoy is pretty clearly a bad person, but he's a perfect example of how banal cruelty and evilness can be. Lucius likes to control, humiliate, and cause people pain, but he's also too weak and self-absorbed to really become one of the evil "greats," so to speak.
Hufflepuff has produced the least amount of Dark wizards
Although Hufflepuff is not exactly known for its glorious victories in the Hogwarts House Cup, it gets points for not producing that many evil wizards, Death Eaters, and Lord Voldemort-types.
If you have qualities of Gryffindor and Slytherin, but you care more about being brave than ambitious, choose Gryffindor. If you're intelligent and loyal, but you care more for intelligence, choose Ravenclaw. Meanwhile, Helga Hufflepuff has the right idea and she'll treat you all the same.
Hufflepuffs. Hufflepuffs are the opposite of Slytherins because they are eager to build a consensus that everyone can live with.
Merlin aside, and before the events of Cursed Child, Slytherin alumni don't have the best of reputations. 'There's not a single witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin,' Hagrid famously said – but just because nearly all bad wizards are Slytherins doesn't mean all Slytherins are bad wizards.
Belonging to the Black family, Phineas is one of Slytherin's loveliest members. Taking a greater moral standpoint than his other family members, who mostly believe in pure-blood supremacy, this good-natured wizard has shown himself to be an especially well-behaved member of the otherwise unruly Hogwarts house.
Slytherin: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces
Slytherins are cunning, resourceful, and incredibly ambitious, which sounds particularly like traits that Scorpios exhibit.
Ravenclaw Traits
This Hogwarts house is the brainy or artsy house. The main qualities are intelligence, wit, wisdom, creativity, originality, individuality, and acceptance.
Even J.K. Rowling says that Hufflepuff is her favorite House. It's produced the fewest Dark wizards of all four Houses. Hufflepuffs are down-to-earth.
Slytherin is the house renowned for its ambition and resourcefulness – though it has an... They're proud, they're ambitious and they're here to capture your heart.
For the uninitiated, the four Hogwarts houses are Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. Gryffindors are brave and daring, Slytherins are cunning and ambitious, Ravenclaws are eccentric and intelligent, and Hufflepuffs are trustworthy and hardworking.
Now, like every good Potter fan, we know our Hogwarts houses — and the good, the bad, and the ugly that come with each one. Slytherins are cunning, Gryffindors are brave, Hufflpuff's loyal, and Ravenclaw's smart.
Out of all of the responses, Thunderbird was the clearly dominant house in terms of Ilvermorny sortings. Surprisingly, Pukwudgie was next, with 25%, beating out Horned Serpent, with 23%. Wampus was by far the rarest of the Houses, with 12%.
You can be creative rather than academic and be a Ravenclaw
While there are plenty of Ravenclaws who fit that description, there are many others who demonstrate that cleverness doesn't just apply to book learning. In fact, intelligence can mean being creative and Luna Lovegood is certainly one example of that.
