Merida is the only Disney princess who doesn't have an American accent.
Well, from what I have learned, Snow White is German, Cinderella is French, Aurora is British, Ariel is Danish, Belle is French, Jasmine is Middle Eastern (supposedly Arabian, but I dunno), Pocahontas is Native American, Mulan is Chinese, Tiana is African-American, Rapunzel is German, Merida is Scottish, Anna and Elsa ...
However, with only 18 spoken lines, Aurora speaks less than any other main character in a full-length Disney animated feature – aside from Dumbo, who is completely silent – and has absolutely no dialogue once she is awakened from her deep sleep.
Well a few things: Not all main Disney characters have American accents, Cinderella and Aurora have British accents but they are from France.
Megara - Hercules (1997)
She worked for Hades and quickly became Hercules's love interest, but she never held a status that would have labeled her as a princess, and dating a God doesn't necessarily give her that status either. Unlike other Disney characters, she was never really labeled as a princess.
Snow White is the typical, beautiful, gentle and innocent princess. The only thing she does in the movie is clean the house for seven guys and get saved by another one.
Moana's father and Tamatoa speak New Zealand English (NZE), which, though potentially unfamiliar to some, may be associated with a British, rather than “foreign” accent (defined as that of a non-native English speaker). Gramma Tala is the only principle character who speaks SE with a foreign accent.
She has a Southern-Cajun drawl, which, in Disney's defense, is probably what a girl born and raised in New Orleans, as Tiana supposedly has been, would sound like.
Ursula from The Little Mermaid (1989)
Pat Carroll from Louisiana gave the villainess the same kind of Transatlantic accent as earlier villainesses had.
There's one official Disney Princess that doesn't have a song — can you guess who this is? (Merida from Brave.)
Tiana is not only one of the most intelligent Disney characters but also the most inspiring and ambitious Disney princess who is not afraid of hard work and does everything in her power to achieve her goals no matter how impossible they might seem.
Pocahontas is the only Disney princess with a tattoo.
Inspired by Polynesian mythology, Moana is depicted as the strong-willed daughter of a chief of a Polynesian village, who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with the goddess Te Fiti.
Snow White and Rapunzel are German. Cinderella, Aurora, and Belle are French. Ariel is Danish. Merida is Scottish.
As Ariel is half fish, she cannot be categorized by our ethnicities and races. The animated “Little Mermaid” movie only portrayed her with light skin and red hair because that was the American interpretation at the time.
Pinto Colvig, the creator of Goofy's voice, was once asked where he got the accent, and he said he was just speaking the way people did in his hometown of Gresham, Ore. "This is an accent noted for the use of 'r' sounds after long a's or o's -- as in 'Warshington' rather than Washington, and 'gawrsh' instead of gosh.
He is from the fictional kingdom of Maldonia, and voice actor Bruno Campos ad-libbed the accent as a combination of Portuguese and French.
Tiana is recognized for being Disney's first African American princess. As the film's writers and directors, Clements and Musker claim that their decision to depict Tiana as an African American young woman came naturally simply as a result of the location in which the story takes place.
1. Olaf appears in Moana's basket.
So it all works out in the end: Moana is not from Hawaii, and neither is she from New Zealand. She has to come from Tonga or Samoa, the two first archipelagoes where the Polynesian People was born. They were the only Polynesian islands with a population at the time…
Although Moana is from the fictional island Motunui some 3,000 years ago, the story and culture of Moana is based on the very real heritage and history of Polynesian islands such as Hawaii, Samoa, Tonga, and Tahiti. In fact, once you start looking for ties to Polynesian culture in Moana, it's hard to stop!
Prince Eric ("The Little Mermaid")
Prince Eric—with his big blue eyes, jet-black hair, and incredibly expressive eyebrows—is arguably the most attractive prince on the list.
Perhaps one of the most tragic upbringings is that of Cinderella. Her entire childhood up to adulthood is pure misery and abuse. She is constantly mocked by her evil stepmother and stepsisters. They made her a servant in her own house and even took all of her belongings.
