It's been proven by now that Superman can't outrun the Flash, but it turns out he's still fast enough to keep up with Flash's top speed - albeit barely.
Barry Allen
The first decisive victory between Superman and a speedster takes place in World's Finest Comics #198-199. As the cover to issue #198 boldly states: “And this time, there MUST be a winner!” Despite cover illustrations to the contrary, this race too is on foot, and it's Barry who claims victory.
He gets FASTER. While The Flash show puts Barry at physics-breaking speeds already, the comics introduce a Flash character that can outrun even him: Wally West. How fast is Wally West? Wally West can run at something called the “trans-time velocity”.
Thanks to his powers being magic-based, Shazam can go toe-to-toe with Superman and is likely faster than the Man of Steel, but that doesn't mean he can move as fast as Flash can.
In the DC Comics, Superman was faster than both Shazam and Black Adam. The movies however, could potentially be giving Black Adam a speed boost to put him on more level-ground with the Man of Steel.
As a general rule, the comics claim that The Flash is the faster hero, with Barry Allen, Wally West and even an octogenarian Jay Garrick having outrun Superman over the years.
The lone Godspeed proclaimed their defeat due to Impulse's recklessness, before attacking the Flash. But the Flash was able to phase through his attack and the Godspeed, defeating them.
The Flash is known for his speed, but his 'time clone' ability effectively allows him to reshape reality and even gain new powers.
While kryptonite is Superman's greatest weakness, he's susceptible to other forms of energy and threats. This makes Billy Batson — aka Shazam, the World's Mightiest Mortal — one of Superman's greatest opponents.
Doomsday is the only one in main comics continuity to ever kill Superman; and he did so simply by beating the Man of Steel to death.
Green kryptonite weakens Superman and other Kryptonians, and can and will kill them with long-term exposure. Kryptonians under green kryptonite's effects experience severe muscular weakness, usually to the point of collapse, and excruciating pain, with both conditions progressively intensifying.
According to one theory, Superman can fly at 7,680 miles per hour. DC Comics has provided an approximate figure for Superman's top flying speed, placing it at around Mach 10 or ten times the speed of sound.
In a competition of speed between the Blue Blur and the Scarlet Speedster, it will take more than math and science to really comprehend their overall speed. However, taking all things we know into account, Flash would win a typical race against Sonic the Hedgehog and come out as the faster of the two.
As the current Flash in DC Comics, Wally West is one of the fastest men alive, easily able to outpace people like Superman and manage to keep up with people like Barry Allen, but a long time ago Wally admitted that the Reverse Flash is much faster than him.
The Flash's entire body is imbued with the powerful Speed Force. The result is everything that the Flash does is extremely fast. Since the potent energy runs through his veins at all times, the Flash will also heal faster than a normal human being.
Barry Allen as Flash: God of Death (Prime Earth) - DC Comics.
The Black Flash is a fictional comic book character from DC Comics. Created by writers Grant Morrison and Mark Millar, and artist Ron Wagner, the character had cameos in The Flash vol. 2 #138 (June 1998), before appearing in full in The Flash vol. 2 #141 (September 1998).
Powers and Abilities
Superhuman Speed: The Black Flash can move at vast superhuman speeds, easily keeping up with Barry Allen, and surpassing the speed of light. Superhuman Reflexes: Because of his immense speed, Black Flash's reflexes are heightened to superhuman levels, allowing him to react to danger instantly.
When Barry got his Tachyon device, he was running faster than Zoom, who was over 4x faster than Barry's fastest ever speed. Which is obviously faster than we've seen Reverse-Flash.
Flash might be the fastest man alive but he's no match for Goku. But being slower is what will likely save him if they ever met on the battlefield. A fight between DC's Flash and Dragon Ball's Goku would last only a matter of seconds based on their incredible speeds, but the outcome likely wouldn't be what fans expect.
Superman is immortal as long as he stays exposed to the yellow sun. Yellow Sun radiation is a prime source of power for Superman, and due to its effects, he is practically invulnerable to most forms of damage, and he is able to live seemingly forever. That doesn't mean that Superman can't be killed, however.
As Seen In: Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane #20 and various other Silver Age tales. Superman has the power to time travel at will—no cosmic treadmill or DeLorean required.
Many characters have carried the mantle of the Flash and many different versions of these famous speedsters over the years. We can confirm that Shazam is slower than all of them. It doesn't matter whether we compare Shazam to Jary Garric, Wally West, or Barry Allen; why will Shazam never reach those speeds?
