Cersei. Even as a little girl she was a nasty,cruel child. Daenerys was gentle and sweet even into her teens, she became corrupted by power that she didn't know how to use and gave into her dark side. Daenerys was misguided and even a zealot, but she truly believed she was doing good.
Easily the most callous, dastardly, and self-destructive villain in HBO's Game of Thrones universe, Cersei Lannister was, at points, television's most despised character, as her thirst for power and hatred of her brother, fan-favorite Tyrion Lannister, put her at direct odds with the heroes of our story.

Tyrion is one of the few clever Game Of Thrones characters who also manages to stay in the reader's good graces. He may be manipulative at times, but it is often for the good of the realm.

House Targaryen was deposed by Robert Baratheon in the War of the Usurper, fifteen years before the events of A Game of Thrones, killing most of the family in the process. Surviving heirs Viserys and Daenerys fled into exile across the narrow sea.
