Film. Some elements of Gorr's character were previously used for Hela (portrayed by Cate Blanchett) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Thor: Ragnarok (2017). Gorr the God Butcher appears in the MCU film Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), portrayed by Christian Bale.
Gorr in the MCU
Ten years after his first comic book appearance, Gorr will make his MCU debut in Thor: Love and Thunder, played by none other than former Batman Christian Bale.
The Thor 4 trailer reveals Gorr as a villain with ashy grey skin, a scarred face and white robes. Perhaps the gods made fun of the character's monochrome pallor as a kid, because now he is known as the God Butcher—pretty bad news for the MCU's favorite god, Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth).
Dependency:Gorr's power is dependent entirely on his symbiote, which itself is dependent on the blood of gods for its power. The more gods killed by the Necrosword or its constructs, the more power it can provide its user; though this power must be replenished as it is used up.
When Gorr activated the Godbomb, the symbiote construct of his wife called him out as a God. Angry at the accusation, he killed her. The construct of his son, Agar, then allied with Thor the Avenger, to bring down his father who he saw had become the very thing he fought over a millennia to destroy.
Mistress Love is one of the Marvel Universe's most powerful beings. Though she can't shoot lasers out of her eyes, as we saw in the movie, she can control emotions related to love in any being, even on a universal scale. She can also change her appearance at will.
8 Odin Would Definitely Lose To Gorr
However, Odin is basically a glass cannon: powerful enough to challenge enemies but unable to stand against them for long. Gorr would brutalize Odin. Odin's best years are far behind him. Even with the Odinforce on his side, he's died way more than he's won in recent years.
Scarlet Witch
Her use of Chaos Magic would be significantly effective against Gorr's more combat-based attacks, and would allow her to easily overpower the God Butcher.
Superman would win in a fight against Gorr the God Butcher. He is stronger, faster, and more resilient than Gorr. In addition to this, Superman could greatly weaken Gorr by destroying the symbiote using his heat vision and making a high-pitched sound that would make Gorr powerless.
Despite her cosmic level of power, Carol Danvers doesn't have too much fighting experience against other beings of extraordinary power such as Gorr the God Butcher, and his thousands of years worth of fighting experience along with his Necrosword's power to pierce virtually anything gives him an edge over Captain ...
Thor from the present then uses the two Mjolnirs to kill Gorr. Gorr's legacy returns to haunt Thor when Nick Fury – currently wielding the eye and knowledge of the murdered Uatu following the "Original Sin" storyline – whispers a secret to him that causes Thor to lose the ability to wield his hammer.
Thorr Odinson is a villain from the Avengers and is an evil alternate reality version of Thor Odinson as well as a member of the Tyrant Avengers.
Meanwhile, MCU Phase 4 saw Stormbreaker being wielded by Thor, Gorr the God Butcher, Love, and anyone else who was strong enough to actually lift and swing it. This is because of the respective origins of both legendary Asgardian weapons.
As you can tell, Gorr, the symbiotes, and thus Venom are all closely-related. And considering that Venom left a piece of himself in the post-credits scene for Spider-Man: No Way Home, there just might be another connection in the making.
The God Butcher steals Thor's weapon, the Stormbreaker before they can escape. Stormbreaker would allow Gorr to summon Bifrost and reach Eternity, a cosmic entity that can grant any wish to the person that is successful in reaching it. And he would ask for all gods to die across the universe.
Gorr is an alien who was once a devout follower of Rapu's religion but turned to violence when his god ignored him, leading his daughter Love to perish.
Gorr is much faster with his shadow walking. Thanos probably has stronger AP, but Gorr can definitely wound Thanos with the Necrosword. Assuming the AoE of the Power Stone neutralizes any Shadow Beasts Gorr makes and it's left to a straight up fight. I don't see Thanos winning more than 3/10 times.
1 Winner: Superman
Yes, Thor has magic on his side and can hurt Superman. However, Superman has defeated magical foes in the past because he doesn't just stand there and let them hit him with magic.
Gorr would win in a fight against Kratos. This is because Gorr is stronger, faster, and more invulnerable to injury than Kratos. It would be a close fight because Kratos is an extremely accomplished combatant but in the end, Gorr would be the victor.
Having wielded the star-forged weapon for countless centuries, Thor and Mjolnir have quite the singular bond, despite the various trials and tribulations they've been through. And that bond is ultimately what proves that the Mighty Thor has surpassed his father, Odin.
Surtur, the fire demon, forges a sword called Twilight which would bring about the end of Asgard and Earth. Odin perishes many times facing him and ultimately gets caught in eternal combat with the demon.
The Scarlet Witch is powerful, but she's not on the level of Doctor Manhattan. There isn't a comic book character that is. Wanda would use her powers and may even take him out. However, he'll reappear, figure out Wanda's powers, and then she'll lose the fight.
Traditionally, Thor only breaks out this armor for his toughest foes, with a prime example being his all-powerful sister, Hela. Thor: Love and Thunder's Battle Armor, then, seems to imply that Gorr is more powerful than Hela, or at least that Thor considers him a greater threat.
Odin has pretty clearly been shown to be demonstrable more powerful than the other gods. Odin's Odinforce has far outstripped anything Zeus's magical lightning bolts have ever done.
Gorr obtained the sword from the deceased Shadow Lord and used it to slay his first god. Gorr wielded the Necrosword in his intergalactic crusade against all gods, though it slowly corrupted him, as well as binding his life-force to it.
