In the battle, it appears that Chozen is killed when Silver slashes him across the back with a katana.
In the end, however, Chozen survives. And as for Kreese, as viewers expected all season long, the fight and the blood were all faked to help the character successfully stage his escape from behind bars. It also sets up the potential for Cobra Kai season 6, where Kreese could be back as the main antagonist.
Chozen ultimately survives and is put into an ambulance, being helped out by Barnes and Johnny just as they arrive at the Cobra Kai Encino dojo where Terry Silver had recently been defeated by Daniel and arrested for his crimes.
The climactic clash between wealthy villain/Cobra Kai dojo owner Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) and Miyagi-Do dojo defender Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) escalated from karate to armed combat when Silver plucked a katana from his weapons room, prompting Chozen to pull a pair of sai, a type of Okinawan dagger, from his ...
Mike Barnes Was Better Than Chozen In The Karate Kid Trilogy
Daniel seemingly surpassed Chozen in The Karate Kid Part II, but wasn't on Barnes' level in the third movie (despite winning at the end.) In The Karate Kid Part III, Barnes could've won the All Valley Tournament, but lost because of Silver's flawed plan.
After losing at the All Valley Karate Tournament to Cobra Kai, Daniel LaRusso, promising to continue being a sensei of Miyagi-Do, visits Mr. Miyagi's gravesite where he asks Chozen for help to go on the offense and defeat Cobra Kai forever. Chozen agrees to help him and the two men bow together in respect to Mr.
As for Johnny, he didn't fight Chozen, but since his skills are comparable to Daniel's, it's likely that Chozen would emerge victorious if the two were to come to blows.
14 Chozen Toguchi
However, unlike Daniel, Chozen also learned the offensive side of Miyagi-Do, showing that he is probably the best fighter in the whole series. Along with his karate techniques, Chozen is also very skilled at using his sai weapons.
"It would have been funny if he was holding this small little face towel." With that important business out of the way, it's time to talk about Chozen's other big reveal this season: He's completely in love with Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita), and he has been for years!
Hawk can put up a fight vs Miguel and Robby, but he would lose to KK1 Johnny, gets beaten without much effort by KK2 Daniel, and loses horribly to Chozen who is not only using a superior martial art but is just as aggressive as Hawk and way more physically dominant.
While talking with Johnny Lawrence, Chozen reveals that he has been in love with Kumiko for a long time. When Daniel asks about this confession, Chozen says that when he and Kumiko were children, they would play together. After Daniel defeated him, Chozen became suicidal and felt ashamed of his actions.
Terry's men take down the threat
Just then, Terry sliced Chozen with a sword and left the man for dead. Terry even thought Chozen was dead. After that, Terry left the rest of his goons to kill Johnny. It looked like Johnny was going to lose but he got a second wind after seeing the sonograph of his unborn baby.
Thanks to his devotion to Miyagi-do karate, Chozen has emerged as a powerful fighter who just might be able to beat Terry Silver.
Chozen probably, but what a fight it would be. Terry Silver's skill obviously has improved, as we saw in season 4. This new Silver might not have lost to Mr Miyagi so easily, but Chozen is the true heir of Sato's Karate, so there's no competition for him any time soon.
The Karate Kid Part II
Chozen Toguchi is Sato Toguchi's nephew and best student as well as a Karate Instructor for the US servicemen in Japan, who serves as the main antagonist of the film. Like Johnny Lawrence, he is a bully and second enemy to Daniel LaRusso.
Naturally, Chozen's martial arts skills are tested to their limits, and Cobra Kai season 5 proves that he's the best karate fighter in the show, just as Mr. Miyagi was in The Karate Kid movies.
Seeing that he had a hand on making Chozen land where he was now, Sato decided to forgive Chozen and let him redeem himself, he gave his nephew a second chance at life, which he took to heart. Sato ultimately managed to put Chozen in the right path before dying, making him a better man for the conceivable future.
During a night out with Daniel and Johnny Lawrence, Chozen reveals to Johnny that he's in love with Kumiko. Johnny later tells Daniel that "the way Chozen talks about her, he's got it bad." Chozen tells Daniel that when he and Kumiko were children, they would play together and Kumiko would always find him.
While Daniel and Kumiko talked about her joining him in California to pursue her dream of being a dancer, she got an opportunity to dance in Tokyo, and they broke up before LaRusso and Miyagi returned home to LA.
Mike Barnes would have defeated Chozen if they had fought before Cobra Kai. In The Karate Kid sequel series, Yuji Okumoto's Chozen Toguchi is hailed as the show's best fighter. Time and time again, Cobra Kai has proven just how skilled the Karate Kid Part II villain really is.
It stands to reason that Chozen is at least in Mr. Miyagi's league in terms of skill. He is much bigger and more muscular than Miyagi was too, so he may actually be tougher than Mr. Miyagi was.
Chozen has better destructive power than Johnny, being able to broke a piece off a statue off while Johnny's best feat close to that is vaguely denting a fence.
The Karate Kid Part II (1986) - Yuji Okumoto as Chozen - IMDb.
So when Cobra Kai villain Terry "you're playing with fire" Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) crosses paths with honorable karate master Chozen "and I am gasoline" Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) in season 5, things are bound to get heated.
Barnes' offense is stronger, he has the intimidation factor, and his defense is about Johnny level. But I do think if Johnny learned how to think in a fight, like Daniel, he could take Barnes because Johnny is very strong.
