Maeve was eventually killed while protecting Starlight from
Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comics saw Homelander kill Maeve after she helped protect Starlight. Queen Maeve died when Homelander ripped her head off. It was a shocking and sudden ending for the character's arc in the comics, but The Boys season 3 could pull off a similar moment.
But, surprisingly, both Queen Maeve and Soldier Boy survive. Maeve, now powerless (Soldier Boy's radiation removed the Compound V in her system, just like it did to Kimiko), is also free to live the life she always wanted with her girlfriend Elena.
While it seems Maeve sacrificed herself, she is later revealed to be alive. Maeve's fate in The Boys season 3 was different than in the comics, where she sacrifices her life to protect Starlight from Homelander. Now, in a conversation with TVLine, Kripke explains why he chose not to kill off Maeve in The Boys season 3.
Upon returning to Vought, Homelander kills Noir for withholding his knowledge of Soldier Boy being Homelander's biological father. In his dying moments, Noir sees Buster Beaver and his imaginary friends one final time where Buster states that they are proud of him for doing what he considered the right thing.
Noir found out that Homelander knew that Soldier Boy was his father and was now unsure about killing him. When Homelander asked Black Noir if he knew Soldier Boy was his father, Noir nodded which made Homelander cry in sadness.
During Payback's fight against Soldier Boy, Black Noir received catastrophic brain injuries that left him both unable to verbally communicate and saddled with bizarre hallucinations of cartoon animals.
In Kripke's words: "It is right narratively for [Maeve] to exit stage left because she was too powerful, and she solved too many of Starlight's problems for her. For Starlight to truly flower into the powerful character she is, she needs to remove all of her life preservers.
In actual physical combat, Homelander and Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) are the only two who would likely be able to beat Maeve.
He's just keeping her alive until he no longer needs her. There is one thing he needs to do first, and that's to harvest her eggs. You see, Homelander wants a child. He wants to create a child with Queen Maeve.
Except, Maeve isn't actually gone at all. A few scenes later, the Queen of the Seven shows up a little worse for wear, but definitely alive still. And even better, she's back with Elena, her lost love from season two.
Spoilers for The Boys comic book and television series! Billy Butcher once made his last name quite literal when he tortured and killed Soldier Boy during one of his darkest moments in The Boys comic book series.
She is at first rejoiced at being selected, however is later sexually assaulted when the Deep extorts her into performing oral sex on him in "The Name of the Game" in order for her to stay on the team.
The fans wait to see how the scene would play a role in the future episodes of the show. But looking at how Butcher hates Superheroes and wants them all gone, the hookup with Maeve was just a moment of passion and means nothing more to him. It could just be a way to move the plot forward with Homelander.
After losing an eye to Homelander (Anthony Starr), Maeve had seemingly jumped to her death, sacrificing herself to save everyone in Vought Tower from another one of the PTSD detonations emanating from Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles).
However, she gets interrupted by her substitute host. As Maeve watches her daughter leave, distraught, the Ghost Nation arrives in order to take them to the Valley Beyond. Taking it as an attack, Maeve grabs her daughter and they take off running, with the girl screaming for her mama.
Yup, Soldier Boy is Homelander's biological father. Suddenly all these daddy issues make a lot more sense. This character element isn't from the original The Boys comics, but was something Kripke and the writer's room came up with for the show.
The grand finale of The Boys comic book series confirms that there is only one hero who is actually stronger than Homelander, and that's his (even more) evil clone, Black Noir. Created to be an upgraded version of Homelander, Black Noir proves his superiority in the final battle between these two deranged powerhouses.
Benjamin, better known as simply Soldier Boy, or Ben, is a major antagonist of the Amazon series The Boys, serving as a mentioned character in Seasons 1 and 2, and one of the two main antagonists (alongside Homelander) of Season 3.
Meanwhile, Maeve begins having casual sex with Jackson Marchetti before the two eventually start dating after Otis inadvertently gives Jackson advice on how to win Maeve over. When Maeve discovers that she is pregnant with Jackson's child, she asks Otis to accompany her to get an abortion.
Maeve and Elena's “relationship” is eventually discovered by Homelander, who then reveals it on live television, effectively outing Maeve and also using Elena's Hispanic heritage to successfully leverage a cheap PR boost for him and the Seven's image with the LGBTQ+ community.
In the finale, released on Prime Video on Thursday night, Homelander (Antony Starr) ruthlessly killed Black Noir by shoving his hand through his chest and ripping out his organs. "I don't think we walked into the finale knowing we were gonna do it," Kripke said.
Noir's animated animal pals get him to face his Soldier Boy fears by re-creating the event that made him so completely terrified of Soldier Boy in the first place, a day when Soldier Boy beat him up after he stood up to him, as well as the nearly fatal attack Soldier Boy made on Noir the day he led Payback in ...
THE BOYS' Black Noir is obviously supposed to be a parody or alternate version of Batman. Just like every member of The Seven (other than Translucent).
The Deep is very fond of receiving unreciprocated oral sex, even preferring it to coitus. Perhaps his self-consciousness regarding his gills has guided this preference. He blackmails Starlight into performing oral sex on him, and his complaint about his wife is that she "gives terrible blow jobs."
