History. Sperm were first observed in 1677 by Antonie van Leeuwenhoek using a microscope. He described them as being animalcules (little animals), probably due to his belief in preformationism, which thought that each sperm contained a fully formed but small human.
Antoine van Leeuwenhoek and the discovery of sperm.
However, the story of the discovery of sperm has originated more than three centuries ago, in 1677. Without any scientific purpose and purely driven by human curiosity, van Leeuwenhoek and his assistant described animalculae (6) in human semen.
Sperm was first discovered in 1677 – but it took roughly 200 years before scientists agreed on how humans are actually formed. The “preformationists” believed that each spermatozoa contained a tiny, miniaturised human – the homunculus. They believed that the egg simply provided a place for the sperm to grow.
Ancient Chinese medicine associated semen with jing, or sexual “essence” or “spirit” that was said to dissipate with ejaculation, while Greek philosophers such as Aristotle and Philo believed semen to be a source of nourishment, reason, or virtue.
Despite a wide range in the chronological age at occurrence of the first conscious ejaculation, the mean bone age in all groups, including that with delayed puberty, was 13 1/2 +/- 1/2 years (SD), with a range between 12 1/2-15 1/2 years.

In animals, female gametes are called ova or egg cells, and male gametes are called sperm. Ova and sperm are haploid cells, with each cell carrying only one copy of each chromosome.
The age where a man is most fertile is between 22 and 25 years. It is suggested to have children before the age of 35. After this age, the male fertility begins to worsen. After 35, the sperm might result in pregnancies where mutations can occur.

23:14. "Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood, then of that clot we made a lump; then We made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; the We developed out of it another creature."
There's no maximum age that stops a man from being able to have a baby. You can become a father long into your older years, but there are risks.
Survival times for sperm and the ovum have been estimated to be 1.4 days and 0.7 days, respectively. Sperm would have a 5% probability of surviving more than 4.4 days and a 1% probability of surviving more than 6.8 days.
The body breaks down unused sperm, which does not build up to trigger further problems. Over time, not ejaculating can trigger psychological problems. For example, people with sexual dysfunctions that affect their ability to ejaculate may experience distress or embarrassment. It can also lead to relationship problems.
Causes include physical problems, chemical imbalances and emotional/psychological factors. Treatments include learning techniques to delay ejaculation, counseling and medications.
A spermatozoon (/spərˌmætəˈzoʊ. ən, ˌspɜːrmətə-/; also spelled spermatozoön; PL spermatozoa; from Ancient Greek σπέρμα (spérma) 'seed', and ζῷον (zôion) 'animal') is a motile sperm cell, or moving form of the haploid cell that is the male gamete. A spermatozoon joins an ovum to form a zygote.
The sperm body spins at the same time that the tail rotates around the swimming direction. Sperm "drills" into the fluid like a spinning top by rotating around itself whilst its tilted axis rotates around the center.
From studies over a threeyear period among 44 women, they find that sperm cells can stay alive or active in the female for as long as seven days.
Sperm cramps, a term that often gets mired in confusion, primarily refers to a discomfort or pain that men experience in their lower abdominal region or testicles. While not a formal medical term, it is commonly used to describe these discomforts thought to be related to sperm production or ejaculation.
Ejaculatory anhedonia is the term used to describe the rare condition in which individuals are able to ejaculate physically but don't have the accompanying feelings of release, pleasure, or orgasm.
Age. As men get older, some find they take longer to get an erection, and erections are longer to maintain. Conversely, younger men might ejaculate sooner than they'd like (although that can happen at any age).
While aging influences a man's erectile function, many elderly men can still naturally produce healthy erections far beyond their prime. On the flip side, other factors may adversely affect your erection, such as weak pelvic floor muscles, certain medications, and spinal injuries.
There is no specific frequency with which a man should ejaculate. There is no solid evidence that failure to ejaculate causes health problems. However, ejaculating frequently can reduce the man's risk of getting prostate cancer. Ejaculation can be through having sex or masturbating a few times a day.
Lay down and relax for a few minutes after sex
Standing up or going to the bathroom after sex may pull sperm away from their destination. So, lying on your back for 15 minutes or so after sex may help keep sperm moving in the right direction.
Confirming whether sperm has gone inside your body can be done by checking for semen, using a home pregnancy test, visiting a doctor, getting a sperm analysis, or using a fertility tracking method. If you are concerned about whether sperm has gone inside your body, it is important to speak with a healthcare provider.
