Prophecies. Kilgharrah had foreseen that
Mab: Merlin's nemesis. A powerful witch and sworn protector of the "Old Ways." Sister of the Lady of the Lake. Merlin: The last sorcerer. Mordred: The evil child produced by the union of Arthur and Morgan Le Fey.
The conflict of “Merlin” was strongest in its first and second season because our primary antagonist was Uther (along with a smattering of Monsters of the Week, most of which had their motivation tied directly to Uther; this was especially true of Nimueh).
Mordred, also called "Sir Mordred" is one of the most famous antagonists of Arthurian legend and the one directly responsible for the great King Arthur's death - he is often envisioned as either a rival or archenemy of Arthur depending on the legend.
A popular version from the French prose cycles narrates Merlin being bewitched and forever sealed or killed by his student known as the Lady of the Lake after falling in love with her. Other texts variously describe his retirement or death.
Mordred is often the character that betrays King Arthur, but Queen Guinevere and Lancelot also betray King Arthur as they are having an affair.
The French Vulgate texts establish the idea that Viviane is Merlin's student as well as the woman that he is in love with. We also learn that Merlin is the son of the devil. Viviane and Merlin are in love, and Viviane wishes to preserve the state of happiness that they are in.
Depictions in legend. In Geoffrey's influential Historia Regum Britanniae (The History of the Kings of Britain), written around 1136, Modredus (Mordred) is portrayed as the nephew of and traitor to King Arthur.
In her Merlin novels (1970–1983), Mary Stewart characterizes Morgause unflatteringly as an ambitious and resentful young princess who wants to learn magic from Merlin, but he refuses her. She seduces Arthur in the hope that she can later use it against him.
In some versions of the Arthurian legends, especially early versions, she is good, depicted as a healer and wise woman. Later stories, though, show her as bad and evil. In the twentieth century, however, Morgan began to be seen once again as good, a sort of feminist icon of a strong, independent, powerful woman.
First and foremost, Arthur too, had killed many of her kind. She did not feel like she could trust him. Also, Uther favored him (and illegitimacy aside, Morgana was actually next in line for the throne since she was born before Arthur) so it was natural for her to feel jealous of him.
Morgana catches up with Merlin and Arthur and drives their horses away, but she is killed by Merlin wielding Excalibur. Without horses, Merlin cannot get Arthur to the Isle in time, and the King of Camelot dies in Merlin's arms, after thanking his friend for everything he has done.
Known to few as the son of the Archfiend Belial and a mortal witch from Ur, he summoned his half-brother Etrigan to save Camelot from the evil forces of Morgaine le Fey. The attempt was in vain, and with Camelot's destruction, and the Demon's imprisonment within Jason Blood, Merlin went into hiding for centuries.
The fact that Merlin's magic is quite literally demonic (not to mention that he was created as the antichrist) should mean that Merlin was condemned as an evil character. But he was not: not at all.
Merlin is the main character of the show and is seen fighting as Dragoon the Great at the Battle of Camlann (The Darkest Hour Part Two) as shown in Morgana's vision. He later on defeats the Saxon forces in the battle after regaining his lost powers which were drained by the Gean Cannah which was sent by Morgana.
Merlin is a cool and calculative member of the Deadly Sins who bears the Sin of Gluttony, symbolized by the Boar symbol tattooed above her neck, normally in the form of an attractive raven-haired woman in skimpy clothing, Merlin is a 3000-year-old witch known as the Daughter of Belialuin as her true name is ...
Bradley James says in an interview that his character Arthur's friendship with Merlin is stronger than his love for Gwen. Alexander Vlahos said in an interview that “becomes a love story between two men. In a platonic sense, it becomes a brilliant love story between Arthur and Merlin.”
Camelot centres on England's reluctant, angst-ridden King Arthur (played by Richard Harris), whose attempts to bring civility to his land are undermined by the love affair between his queen, Guenevere (played by Vanessa Redgrave), and his most loyal knight, Lancelot (played by Franco Nero).
Nonetheless, Mordred revealed a dark and vengeful personality when he told Merlin that he would never forgive or forget him after Merlin led Arthur and his knights to Mordred's camp and tried to stop him from escaping.
In series 4, Uther is wounded during an assassination attempt on Arthur. Merlin tries to heal him but due to Morgana's meddling, the spell instead kills him. In the television series Camelot, Uther is poisoned by his daughter Morgana in the first episode.
One of these knights was Sir Lancelot. He was Arthur's best friend. But unfortunately, Lancelot was also in love with King Arthur's wife, Guinevere. And because Lancelot was the best looking and most chivalrous knight in the kingdom, Guinevere couldn't resist his allure.
This account of the life and adventures of Sir Balin is taken from the story of "Balin, or the Knight with the Two Swords" as told by Malory in Le Morte d'Arthur. Perhaps uniquely among the significant knights of King Arthur's court, Balin never joins the Round Table, dying before that institution is founded.
After seeing Isolde die, Arthur realises that he can't bear to lose Gwen again and finally manages to forgive her, asking her to marry him. Gwen accepts, saying "Yes, with all my heart". Following their marriage she is crowned Queen of Camelot (The Sword in the Stone).
In the medieval legends about King Arthur of Britain and his knights, Lancelot is the greatest knight of all. In time, however, Lancelot's love for Guinevere, the king's wife, leads him to betray his king and sets in motion the fatal events that end Arthur's rule.
Merlin was believed by many, including King Arthur, to be a wizard of great power. However, he possessed no actual mystical abilities and was a drunkard and womanizer.
