Fred Benson, a friend of Nancy's who was similar to Barb, was cursed and killed by Vecna. His death brought back Nancy's trauma, guilt, and grief over Barb's death.
Known as Nancy Wheeler's (Natalia Dyer) best friend who agrees to go to a party even though she doesn't want to, Barb is violently killed only a few episodes into the series. Stranger Things fans immediately came up with the hashtag #JusticeForBarb and created many memes to share their love for this character.
Episodes. Fred Benson, portrayed by Logan Riley Bruner, was a recurring character in the fourth season of Stranger Things. He was a student at Hawkins High School, and worked on the school newspaper.
The teenager was dragged into the Upside Down and quickly killed by the creature. Nancy later spent time searching for her friend until the truth about her death was unearthed. Seeing as Barb served as a symbol of innocence, viewers were upset about her sudden death.
Fred had apparently left someone on the side of the road after a car accident. He'd been in a hit-and-run, and he never turned himself in. Fred went on with his life, carrying the guilt and grief from his actions, but burying it inside himself. Vecna, however, can see the shame his victim's carry.
The film casts Siobhan Fallon Hogan and John Cena as Fred's parents and pop singer and actress Pixie Lott as Fred's crush Judy.
In episode 7, Vecna is revealed to be Henry Creel (played as a youngster by Raphael Luce), the son of Victor Creel (Robert Englund) and his wife Virginia (Tyner Rushing) shown in the 1950s flashbacks.
The Demogorgon Tried (& Failed) To Use Barb
Barb's death implied that whatever the slug does didn't take, so the Mind Flayer reached out to Will instead. It could be that the Mind Flayer needed a younger host, or Barb may have simply died while the Demogorgon was attempting to infect her.
Nancy was then later cursed by Vecna. Using past traumas to break down his victims, Vecna brought Nancy to the pool where Barb was killed by the Demogorgon and revealed her mangled corpse. Vecna then taunted Nancy with her own feelings of guilt - that she was responsible for Barb's death and had forgotten about her.
However, within the red smoke of Vecna's Mind Lair, it wasn't the song itself that saved her, but the memories it conjured up. What broke through to Max was the happy, loving memories of her friends, particularly Lucas and Eleven, and these were what truly allowed her to break free of Vecna's grasp and escape.
"Vecna seems to be actually intrigued by Nancy being able to figure him out, to be able to get this close to the truth... I think this is more Vecna's narcissistic traits that pull him to Nancy, why he wants to give her this information."
Fred Benson, another Hawkins High student, was Vecna's next target. The previous year, Fred had crashed a car and accidentally caused his friend's death; Fred was haunted by survivor's guilt ever since, making him a perfect target for Vecna. Fred, like Chrissy, reported the curse's symptoms to Ms.
Nancy sees an image of Barb's dead body in her vision of the Upside Down.
Vecna was the one who originally kidnapped Will in season 1.
Sadly, Andrew never met his daughter after he was shipped off to Vietnam to fight in the war, where he was killed in battle. So it was Terry's boyfriend Andrew rather than Dr Brenner who is Eleven's father.
Of all the fan-favorite characters who have been introduced in Stranger Things, only to die in the same season, Eddie Munson's death is the most tragic.
Season 4 introduced Stranger Things' best and most terrifying villain yet, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), a psychic from the Upside Down who haunts Hawkins' students with their own traumas before killing them.
Eleven holds the power to defeat the monster using her telekinesis powers, but she is also part of the reason it landed in Hawkins in the first place. There are multiple Demogorgons, and they can be trained to become stronger and even more murderous, which viewers see the Russians doing in season 4.
The theory predicts that Vecna wants to regain his human form, and he will use Will to do so in Season 5. Knowing that Vecna singled out Will in Season 1, it's a reasonable theory, but it might go too far. After all, Vecna already has a human form, and he has vowed to eliminate humanity.
However, it was unable to resist Eleven's power of biokinesis, which she uses to dissolve and kill the Demogorgon. Telekinesis: The Demogorgon appeared to have had some form of telekinetic power.
He was initially trained by his mother, Mazzel, in the art of magic, before she was executed by the government of Fleeth for practicing witchcraft. Vowing revenge, Vecna eventually assumed a mastery of the dark arts achieved by no mortal before or since.
Then there were the three poor teens of Season 4. Vecna's first big credited kill was Chrissy Cunningham (Grace Van Dien). He followed that murder with canonically terrible driver Fred Benson (Logan Riley Bruner) and basketball star Patrick McKinney (Myles Truitt).
Vecna got his start as a couple of magic items
Vecna first appeared in 1976's Eldritch Wizardry, a supplement for the original Dungeon & Dragons rules. Co-author Brian Blume named two artefacts in the supplement: the Hand of Vecna and the Eye of Vecna.
