In the end, Darth Vader's inner hatred and darkness made him the winner of the epic battle against
The duel. Darth Vader defeats Darth Maul. The two Sith Lords engaged in a lightsaber duel, going through the volcano and onto a bridge situated over a river of lava, which collapsed, though they both survived and continued their battle.
No. Even with the damage Vader suffered from Obi-Wan he still has greater strength and skill than Maul. Obi-Wan defeated maul twice but Vader held his own both times and was at least as good as Kenobi.
Considering his infamy, it's hard to deny that Darth Vader is the more powerful of the two, but his victory over Maul wouldn't come easily. As the Emperor's enforcer, Vader is terrifying.
By the time of Episode 3; Anakin is in his prime, and already one of the Jedi Order's most powerful “masters” (although technically still a knight), just behind Obi-Wan, Windu, and Yoda. Maul wouldn't stand a chance. Anakin stomps.
Yep. Darth Maul didn't really say or show straight up that he "feared" Darth Vader, but he openly stated his belief that he could not defeat Darth Vader without the help of the Jedi, therefore on his own.
Having trained in the ways of the Force, Darth Maul was a formidable warrior strong with the dark side and possessed deadly skills in lightsaber combat. In addition, he was a scheming mastermind who plotted his return to power despite losing his place in the ranks of the Sith.
In Star Wars Canon, only Luke Skywalker can be acknowledged as the one who truly defeated Darth Vader.
In many ways, Palpatine enslaved Vader and, over the years, Vader undoubtedly grew to resent his master. Because with any Sith duo, the relationship is always one of master and servant. And due to the history of the Sith, both these Dark Lords were probably constantly paranoid about being betrayed by one another.
Luke Skywalker
However, once Luke fully embraced his power in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, he proved that he was indeed stronger than Darth Vader and struck his father down.
Calming himself, Obi-Wan leaped over Maul and used Qui-Gon's lightsaber to sever Maul in two. On Dathomir, the Nightsister leader Mother Talzin believed that Darth Maul was alive and in exile somewhere in the Outer Rim.
Unlikely. Maul and Palpatine were specialists in the same lightsaber combat form (VII), but Palpatine was more skilled and more experienced, and Savage had little to no technique at all - only brute strength. That's just their lightsaber skill discrepancy.
In the film's climax, Maul duels Qui-Gon and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). He is able to kill Qui-Gon and knock Obi-Wan down a shaft, but Kenobi propels himself out of the pit and uses Qui-Gon's lightsaber to bisect Maul, sending the two parts of his body falling down the shaft.
Star Wars' Darth Vader would lose to Obi-Wan's Darth Vader in a fight - Polygon.
Star Wars Rebels lead creator Dave Filoni even admitted that Maul and Vader were meant to have a fight, but he felt it would take away from the battle with Ahsoka. But as things stand, Star Wars not only lacks a fight between Vader and Maul, but the two have never even spoken to each other.
1 Darth Sidious
There has been no Sith, as powerful, meticulous, nor as evil as the Emperor himself, Darth Sidious. As previously mentioned, Sidious trained in the Dark Side by Darth Plagueis before Sidious killed Plagueis in his sleep, making Sidious a Sith Master.
Star Ewan McGregor was scared of Darth Vader when they met for the first time in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Yet he kept it to himself, as he didn't care about the Sith or the Force. Although Tarkin didn't believe in the Force, he respected Vader a lot, as he was the Emperor's enforcer, and he even grew to admire Vader's way of inducing fear within others.
After the destruction of the Death Star, Darth Vader became obsessed with finding Luke Skywalker.
Because he was not an active member of the Jedi Order during Order 66, Infil'a escaped execution. Some time later, he faced the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Infil'a put up a fierce fight against Vader, almost killing him by throwing the already damaged Sith Lord off of a cliff.
Darth Vader's Insecurities are His Biggest Weaknesses
In the end, virtually all who have made the attempt to use Vader's cybernetic nature against him have ended up dead or defeated. The elite few who have had the upper hand, even before his conversion to mechanical monstrosity, have done so by dominating him mentally.
Aside from agility and telekinesis, Yoda could absorb and redirect Force attacks, like lightning. Because of his higher understanding, he would easily overcome Darth Vader in a fight, though that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a difficult battle.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Was More Powerful Than Darth Maul
Although Obi-Wan was caught off guard by a Force push from Maul, he was clearly more than a match for the Sith apprentice. In fact, Maul trying to throw Obi-Wan into Naboo's melting pit shows he himself wasn't confident in his ability to best Kenobi with a lightsaber.
If Darth Maul killed Anakin on Tatooine then Palpatine's chances at controlling tremendous power to help him achieve his insidious plans would be completely dashed! Anakin would be dead and further events in the SWU would be sent into utter turmoil as we know it!
