Eyelid droop often happens when the person giving the treatment doesn't have proper training and enough experience. They can inject Botox into the wrong area or use a dose that's too high, which leads to muscle weakness and droop. You could have trouble fully opening your eyes or vision problems.
Specifically, injections on the forehead or between the eyes may spread into the eyebrows and cause the brow to lower, causing a droopy eyelid. In most cases, droopy eyelid occurs between one and three weeks after treatment, and patients typically experience this adverse effect for just a few weeks.

According to Dr Gavin Chan, one of the most important things practitioners can do is to, “inject the lateral tail of the corrugator which is the muscle which causes the bunching (6.35) of the frown. Superficially injecting the lateral tail of the frown (corrugator) muscle can help avoid ptosis”.
Fortunately, droopy eyelids are always temporary and can be treated. Usually only a small amount of Botox reaches the muscle that raises your eyelid. Therefore, it will wear off faster than the usual three to four months that Botox lasts; typically two to four weeks, sometimes more sometimes less.
The most common complication of treatment of the glabellar complex is ptosis of the upper portion of the eyelid. Ptosis can occur from 2 to 10 days after injection, at the same time as the esthetic effect is beginning to appear. It can persist for up to 2 to 4 weeks.

Although ptosis may persist for the whole duration of effect of treatment with botulinum toxin type A, it will usually settle more quickly and eyelid ptosis will often settle within 3 to 4 weeks and brow ptosis within six weeks.
The Botox Treatment for Hooded Eyelids
Treating hooded eyelids with Botox is a relatively simple process. The treatment involves injecting Botox into your lower forehead and the outer ends of your eyebrows. When injected, it will paralyze the muscle by effectively preventing nerve receptors that prompt muscle movement.
What happens when you do this with a Botox treatment is that the muscle you normally use to raise your eyebrows is relaxed while the muscles you use to lower them are still active. As a result, you'll feel like your eyebrows are heavy and the position of your eyebrows may even do down.
Unfortunately there's no antidote to (counteract Botox). Eyebrow drop is so annoying to patients but thankfully the effects of Botox are not permanent. The eyebrows can start rising even before the full effect of Botox on the forehead wears off.
While Botox is generally safe and well-tolerated, you may experience some common side effects such as mild headaches, temporary pain, swelling, and bruising at the injection sites, or even flu-like symptoms. One possible side effect that you may have heard about is heavy eyelids, which can understandably cause concern.
However, ptosis can also occur as a side effect of Botox treatment. About 2 percent of people who get a Botox injection may experience ptosis, especially when an untrained individual administers the injection. This probability declines to 1 percent when a skilled healthcare professional does the procedure.
Ptosis occurs when the upper eyelid of one or both eyes droops over your eye. The droop may be barely noticeable or the eyelid can sag to such an extent that it covers your pupil (the black dot at the centre of your eye that lets light in).
No, injection of the Botulinum toxin cannot lead to permanent eyelid drooping or damage of the muscle that lifts the eyelid. So if you experience ptosis after Botox you shouldn't be worried. The droop will go away in a number of weeks. The effect of the cosmetic procedure will also wear off in a few months.

Too much Botox in the forehead muscles can cause the eyebrows to droop, making the upper eyelids look very heavy and hooded. The face may look angry or sad all the time. Too much Botox around the eyes can dramatically affect facial expression. The face is simply frozen.
In general, the effects of BOTOX last about 3 – 6 months, with the average results beginning to wear off after about four months. As with any treatment, of course, the longevity of the results will vary from patient to patient. Men typically require BOTOX injections more often than women, for example.
The more frequently you have Botox injections, the longer the effect will last between sessions! Some doctors have reported repeat clients who can go up to a year between injections.
How long does eyebrow heaviness last? Rest assured, heavy eyebrows after Botox are temporary. The heavy sensation will completely go away once your Botox wears off in 3 months. But it usually becomes less noticeable after a week or two.
