The short answer is yes, it is safe to reheat breast milk, but you can only do so once. Reheating destroys good bacteria and nutrients found in breast milk. Furthermore, it is best to reheat that same milk within four hours because bacteria from your baby's mouth could contaminate it.
It's not safe to reheat a bottle of breast milk. Give your baby an hour to finish up, and then dump whatever's left. Once a baby sucks on the bottle, it's contaminated with saliva and is a breeding ground for bacteria. Note: Babies don't require warm milk (whether it's formula or breast milk).
Once the breast milk has been warmed, you can give it to your child immediately or put it back in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Warm breast milk shouldn't be left out at room temperature. It shouldn't be frozen again.
If your baby did not finish the bottle, the leftover breast milk can still be used within 2 hours after the baby is finished feeding. After 2 hours, leftover breast milk should be thrown away. To avoid wasting unfed milk, consider storing, thawing, and warming milk in smaller amounts.
However, thoroughly cool the freshly expressed breast milk in the refrigerator or a cooler with ice packs before adding it to previously chilled or frozen milk. Don't add warm breast milk to frozen breast milk because it will cause the frozen milk to partially thaw.
Don't leave reheated milk for more than two hours at room temperature. Throw it away if it is left out for this long because bacteria multiply quickly and could cause diarrhea. Antibodies: Substances made by the body to fight off disease.
Breast milk, if heated too much, can lose some of its benefits for your baby. A bottle that has been warmed in a microwave can cause a burn from hot liquid or steam.
Blue or Clear
Usually blueish or clear, watery breast milk is indicative of “foremilk.” Foremilk is the first milk that flows at the start of a pumping (or nursing) session and is thinner and lower in fat than the creamier, whiter milk you see at the end of a session.
Human milk separates after expression (Figure 1) and needs to be remixed before feeding. Unsurprisingly, this is another place where there is plenty of advice given to mothers. And the advice is surprisingly strict: swirl, never shake.
Combining milk
If you pumped both breasts at once and the total amount of milk will fill one bottle no more than two-thirds full, you may combine the contents in one bottle by carefully pouring the milk from one sterile container into the other.
Kissing your baby will change your breast milk
When you kiss your baby, you are sampling the pathogens on her skin, which are then transferred to your lymphatic system where you will produce antibodies to any bugs. These antibodies will then pass through your breast milk to your baby and boost her immune system.

Heating Human Milk in the Microwave
Warming milk in the microwave is never recommended. There are two main reasons to avoid this practice. No liquid or food being fed to any infant should be warmed in a microwave. Milk heats unevenly in a microwave, and can create hot spots that could burn your baby's mouth.
Some people describe a “soapy” smell or taste in their milk after storage; others say it is a “metallic” or “fishy” or “rancid” odor. Some detect a “sour” or “spoiled” odor or taste. Accompanying these changes are concerns that the milk is no longer good for the baby.
Scientists have proven that temperature does not affect the nutritional composition of milk, babies can drink cold milk. It's actually not as important as using the right mix of water and formula (bottle-fed babies) and properly storing breast milk (breastfed babies).
You can relax if you spaced and left the milk sitting on the nightstand for a bit, it's okay. In fact, you can grab this same bottle three hours later and continue pumping into it. Or, if you're power pumping to increase your supply, you can pump into the same bottles multiple times within the four hour window.
Heating breast milk or infant formula in the microwave is not recommended. Studies have shown that microwaves heat baby's milk and formula unevenly. This results in "hot spots" that can scald a baby's mouth and throat.
For moms who pump for NICU babies, the Pitcher Method may be a safe, easier method for managing breastmilk, while providing consistent caloric feedings to premature infants. Premature infants (defined as < 28 weeks of gestation) might obtain an entire day's supply of milk in only one pumping session.
